Queen's Health System Physical Therapist - Physical Therapy (Big Island, Full-Time, 40, Days) in Kamuela, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under general direction of the Director or Manager, is responsible for providing physical therapy services for outpatient and inpatient services as determined by physician referral, therapist judgment, patient needs and desires. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, screening; examination/re-examination; evaluation; diagnosis; prognosis; plan of care; interventions; outcomes assessment; education; practice management; professionalism; consultation; evidence based practice; cultural competence; and promotion of health, wellness, and prevention.

• May be responsible for the assessment, treatment, or care of patients of all ages. Must be competent in the interpretations of the patient’s self-report or behavior and the information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: standing, sitting, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting maximum weight of 50 pounds, pushing/pulling maximum weight of 50 pounds of force, carrying usual weight of 20 pounds, reaching above/at/below shoulders, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.

• Operates clinical equipment of the unit and therapy gym, computer, fax machine, copier, multi-line telephone, printer.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions.

• Some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids; works with electrical/mechanical units.

• Work environment is fast paced and sometimes stressful due to variable work load.

• Required Personal Protective Equipment: Lab coat; eye protection (optional), gown, mask, non-sterile or sterile medical gloves.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Current Hawaii State license as a Physical Therapist.

• Current BLS/HCP certification.

EXPERIENCE:

• One (1) year of professional Physical Therapy experience in an acute care hospital or outpatient setting preferred.

• Experience to demonstrate the following:

o Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to age of patients served.

o Knowledge of state and federal guidelines/regulations.

o Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

o Strong organization and planning skills: anticipate tasks/prioritize assignments; manage multiple projects, varying schedule and clinical load.
