Job Description Summary:
Assists a Program Manager or Program Director in coordinating all
activities of a particular program.
Job Description:
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manages and tracks KDOC inmate grievances as they pertain to
healthcare related concerns.
- Coordinates between KDOC personnel, contract vendor administrators,
and Office of Health Care Compliance personnel and physicians.
- Communicates with facility health care administrators and inmate
advocates.
- Continuously conducts complex interpersonal interactions, makes
complex decisions, analyzes and solves complex problems, and handles
multiple tasks. Frequently uses teamwork skills and gives direction.
- Uses effective communication techniques to resolve healthcare
related concerns.
- Maintains monthly grievance reports/trends and case files. Provides
trend statistics quarterly to the Director of Health Care Compliance
and on an as needed basis.
- Responsible for ensuring all reported statistics are reconciled
monthly. Identifies site needs that are unique and communicates
those needs to KDOC support teams for accommodations that are
required.
- Conducts and organizes weekly peer review meetings between Office of
Health Care Compliance personnel and vendor personnel.
- Provides developmental skills and monitoring tools for follow up
corrective action plans submitted for review and approval by the
KDOC.
- Provides expertise and guidance to facility staff to assist in the
proper procedures to ensure accurate information is obtained to
complete the Peer Review Process and grievance procedure.
- Assess program components for compliance with National Commissions
on Correctional Health Care Standards, American Correctional
Association Standards, Public Based Standards, and Community Medical
Guidance Standards.
- Applies appropriate decision-making behavior.
- Provides input into Peer Review and Grievance policy and procedure
development as well as maintains updates.
- Responsible for understanding ACA and NCCHC accreditation compliance
standards.
- Promote good working relationships among staff, between other
disciplines and departments, and with offender advocates.
- Available for the Secretary and Deputy Secretaries to assist as
needed.
- Coordinate complaint responses.
- Coordinate investigation files.
- Other duties as may assigned by the Director of Health Care
Compliance to respond to expressed needs of the KDOC Secretary and
Deputy Secretaries, Site Wardens and Deputy Wardens, Site
Superintendents and Deputy Superintendents, and other Office of
Health Care Compliance personnel.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor\'s degree in social science or healthcare related field, or
Associate\'s degree with 3 years experience in correctional
healthcare.
Work Experience:
- 5 years experience in correctional healthcare management may be
substituted for the bachelor\'s degree.
