Description
The AI/ML Solution Architect and Dev-Ops Lead will serve as a strategic and technical leader, guiding the development, deployment, and optimization of AI/ML solutions within Burns & McDonnell. This role requires a deep understanding of machine learning operations (ML Ops), data science best practices, and AI-driven business solutions, with a focus on integrating AI into high-impact construction technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will bridge leadership, consulting, and hands-on execution, ensuring that AI/ML models are effectively implemented, validated, and scaled.
With a strong foundation in large language model operations (LLMOps), cloud computing, and AI/data engineering, this role will play a pivotal part in shaping the organization's AI/ML strategy while also executing technical initiatives.
Define and guide the implementation of AI/ML roles, responsibilities, and best practices across the organization.
Develop and implement an ML Ops strategy in alignment with the Technology Solutions Group (TSG) to standardize AI model lifecycle management.
Establish a comprehensive agent strategy beyond agentic workflows, ensuring AI agents are integrated seamlessly into business processes.
Lead AI/ML training and education initiatives, helping executives, business leaders, and teams understand AI capabilities, use cases, and responsible deployment practices.
Evaluate and scope AI/ML scope into new technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with business needs.
Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members; offer performance feedback to managers.
Participate in recruitment efforts, helping identify and onboard AI/ML talent.
Present findings to clients and at industry conferences, showcasing AI/ML advancements and business impact.
Support the preparation of proposals for clients, demonstrating the value of AI-driven solutions.
Design and manage validation pipelines for AI-driven agents to ensure model accuracy and reliability.
Act as the Technical Product Lead for AI-based initiatives such as our Risk Management Initiative, driving AI model implementation to enhance risk assessment capabilities.
Direct the development and application of data solutions for cleansing, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Direct the analysis of data to discover business value, patterns, and trends, guiding the development of AI/ML-driven business solutions.
Choose the best-fit AI/ML and other predictive modeling methods, define algorithms, and validate and deploy models to achieve desired results.
Conduct quality reviews of AI/ML applications, ensuring research integrity and best practices, both in terms of business value and technical implementation.
Effectively communicate AI/ML-related insights, findings and recommendations to executives, clients, and operational teams.
Manage preparation of proposals for clients.
Present to clients and at industry conferences.
Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members. Provide performance feedback to managers.
Participate in recruitment efforts.

Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Math, or related field from an accredited program and 14 years related experience Required
Master Degree Preferred
Related consulting experience preferred.
Experience working with SQL, R, Java, Python, SAS, SPSS required.
Experience leading complex data mining and advanced analytics.
Experience leading complex machine learning and advanced statistical algorithms.
Experience leading data visualization.
Ability to work with team members and clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve complex problems.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent verbal/written communication, and the ability to present and explain complex technical concepts to business audiences.
