Summary Description

We are currently looking for aCompliance Managerto join our Risk Management team.

The Compliance Manager will assist in maintaining the compliance management program to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and perform compliance testing projects including planning and executing testing scenarios based on regulatory requirements. They will identify and recommend efficient and effective solutions to enhance controls and work with managers on solutions. Cross-trained for compliance review of marketing materials and advertisements.

As the Compliance Manager, you will be an essential part of the execution of the banks compliance program and work with all of the banks departments in the implementation and oversight of a successful compliance program. Responsible for assisting in administering the compliance program so that the Bank complies with the requirements of laws and regulations; will be responsible for driving and implementing the Banks strategy for the promotion, enhancement and oversight of theses enterprise-wide program; reports on the compliance oversight and monitoring programs to senior management, Compliance Committee, and regulatory agencies. Additional job duties can be assigned at any time due to expanded activities from the bank, holding company or regulators. This position will work @Flex (a combination of both in the office and at home). The Compliance Team works in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays out of our home office in Kansas City, MO.

What youll do

  • Completes compliance testing projects that have been determined by the Director of Risk Management.
  • Assess risk and determines level of work required to conclude on adequacy of internal controls.
  • Manage the compliance testing and monitoring program by creating quality assurance review scenarios using risk assessments, previous audit findings, and changes to business processes. Manages the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual quality assurance testing and completion of compliance memorandums outlining identified exceptions and risk areas. Coordinates management responses with each responsible business unit to remediate identified errors and implement additional controls to prevent future exceptions.
  • Identifies internal control strengths and weaknesses, researches issues, and makes recommendations to improve policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Analyzes operational functions of various departments and identifies control weaknesses and inefficiencies from a business perspective.
  • May work with outside auditors to help reconcile discrepancies or support the external auditing function.
  • Assist in developing BSA/AML and fraud strategies.
  • Partners with business units to develop audit action plans and effectively manage business needs and risk to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Reviews marketing materials to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Serves an advisory member of the Compliance Committee and may be required to take meeting minutes.
  • Perform analysis of the Banks various deposit and lending portfolios and activities to identify trends, emerging issues, gaps for business improvement.
  • Administrative duties on various software applications pertaining to the maintenance and analysis of compliance data. Analysis may include customer verification checks, comparative file reviews, studies, regression analysis, risk assessments, fallout reports, and peer analysis.
  • Prepare and present to the Board of Directors and Senior Management on an as needed basis detailing the Banks current performance and compliance program effectiveness and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of new products to ensure that the Banks lending programs, deposit products and other financial services ar designed to enable the Bank to meet the financial, credit and housing needs of the Banks communities.
  • Follows all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

What youll bring

  • Bachelors Degree in business or related field
  • 5+ years banking or related experience
  • Prior knowledge of banking regulations and a prior position in banking compliance

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • A clear and complete understanding of Organization Structure, Management Philosophy, Policies, Procedures and Controls
  • Project management skills adequate to administer and coordinate the varied responsibilities of the position
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities with strong detail orientation
  • Proficiency to analyze and extract information from regulations as it relates to existing and new products, services, and business issues
  • Presentation skills sufficient to convey compliance knowledge and including the ability to interact with Senior Management, Regulators and Board of Directors
  • Must have solid computer skills
