Job Description

Responsible for the collection, preparation and reporting of data for third party reimbursement. Work with independence and must be able to balance a schedule for completing required work for both facilities and home office. Work closely with others in the department.

  1. Prepares cost reports and supporting cost reporting workpapers for government and third party agencies ensuring compliance with both Federal and State regulations. This includes duties from coordinating activities to analysis follow-up of time studies and data requests to summarized reports of the information.

  2. Monitors various Medicare and Medicaid logs including Medicare remittance advices for accuracy. Prepares PIP reports as requested by Medicare. Reviews analysis of unpaid claims and informs appropriate contacts of issues. Prepares Medicare charity/bad debt log.

  3. Prepares IRIS report complying with CMS requirements. Accumulates and maintains a log of intern/resident rotations reconciling to billing invoices and with the other rotation hospitals. Reviews auditor adjustments and verifies accuracy. Coordinates education of relevant departments on resident regulations and requirements.

  4. Assists in the Charge Description Master (CDM) maintenance.

  5. Identifies system enhancement opportunities and recommends appropriate changes. Performs file maintenance for personal computer software program with appropriate I.T. network and hardware support.

  6. Promotes quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through department operations and by personal performance

  7. Presents a courteous and helpful demeanor, appropriate for age, to all patients, visitors, other Truman employees/medical staff members, or any other person an employee encounters while representing Truman Medical Center. 8. Maintains current knowledge related to applicable statutes, regulations, guidelines and standards necessary to perform job duties in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Compliance Plan. Complies with the requirements of the Code of Conduct, Corporate Compliance Plan and Compliance Policies and Procedures, including training requirements. Participates in compliance activities under the direction of the Department Manager and Corporate Compliance Officer.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with major in Accounting or Finance.

  2. Five years hospital reimbursement, Fiscal Intermediary/MAC auditing or reimbursement consulting experience.

  3. Knowledge of Medicare reimbursement regulations.

  4. Ability to gather information from various sources, creates accurate detail spreadsheets, and then evaluates the information for reasonableness.

  5. Ability to organize work and meet deadlines without supervision.

  6. Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of Access.

  2. Knowledge of coding and CDM maintenance.

  3. Knowledge of STAR patient accounting system.

  4. Knowledge of TRENDSTAR.
