Summary/Objective

ThePlant Manageroversees the operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Lead the manufacturing facility to safely provide the best solutions and service to the Supply Chain and the customers. Define current and long-term objectives for safety, service, quality, and employees and deploying resources effectively. Establish and communicate clear goals, strategy, and deliverables. Support and foster a high-performance work team that encourages collaboration and continuous improvement. Exercise sound judgment in the execution of your job responsibilities.

Pay will be based on experience.

Essential Functions

· Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectation through the oversight of shipping, receiving, production and maintenance activities

· Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards

· Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping

· Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results

· Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus

· Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions

· Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff

· Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime

· Commit to plant safety procedures and hold others accountable for adherence

· Responsible for hiring, performance management, employee relations, grievances, monitoring employee productivity, training and disciplinary measures that fosters self-correcting employees and superior retention

· Responsible to enforce and support company policies and procedures, escalating matters of importance

· Responsible to ensure all Federal, State and local laws and regulations are adhered to, escalating matters of importance

· Responsible for ensuring ISO standards and regulations are adhered to

· Regularly inspect the plant floor and equipment to ensure everything is working properly, to include the grounds and truck yard as well

· Work closely with all internal plant and corporate functions, including and not limited to sales, marketing, quality, procurement, finance, and human resources

· Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, get first hand customer information; acts with customers in mind; established and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect

Requirements

Qualifications

· Demonstrated strong leadership skills

· Able to foster a team environment as well as working independently as needed

· Proven work experience as a plant manager as well as managerial experience

· Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)

· Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise

· Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes

· Computer literacy

· Ability to create accountability and lead by example

· Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills

· Strong attention to detail and follow through

· Able to effectively manage multiple tasks at one time while meeting deadlines

· Adherence to the attendance policy

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does have supervisory responsibilities of plant management and maintenance personnel

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in a plant, mill, warehouse or an office setting. Time is spent on the plant floor and in a managerial office. Work times may involve alternating rotation of day shifts and night shifts as needed. Physical labor, from walking to heavy lifting, is required on a daily basis. The physical demands described here are representative of those essential functions that must be successfully performed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, ascending/descending stairs, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday and also requires a great deal of flexibility on days and hours worked based on the needs of the business

Travel

This position requires minimal travel. If travel is required, it will be scheduled in advance

Required Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Management or applicable business experience required

· 8 + years previous experience in manufacturing field required, preferably in steel and aluminum

· 8+ years progressive managerial experience required

· Plant manager certification helpful

· Deep understanding of financial management is required

· OSHA certification preferred

· Proficient skills in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Strong financial and business acumen, including knowledge of market trends, technology and best practices
