Summary:
The Emergency Department Clinical Secretary is responsible for providing clerical support to the physicians and nursing staff in the Emergency Department. Upon request provide assistance to patients under the direction of the Charge Nurse, Physician, or Nurse Manager.
Responsibilities:
Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships with co-workers, physicians, physician offices, other departments, and patients in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Patients and families are served in assisting the nursing staff to provide patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.

EDUCATION
- High school graduate or equivalent. Medical terminology course required. health Unit Coordinator Course preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 2 years' experience as secretary with medical background.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Required to key or type at least 40 corrected WPM. Knowledge of computer (Word Perfect, Word, Excel). Good telephone skills, good communication skills, ability to work under pressure, good planning and organizational skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Occasionally exposed to BBP (PPE required). May experience stressful work periods.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Sits most of the day, some walking and standing required, frequent reaching, manual dexterity.
