To perform care, custody and control of inmates in the Armstrong County Jail.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Conducts booking procedures of newly committed detainees.
• Maintains and secures inmates' personal property.
• Maintains and documents accurate headcounts.
• Directs and monitors movement of inmates.
• Conducts searches on incoming inmates and prepares them for incarceration.
• Checks incoming mail, clothing and other items for contraband.
• Documents and maintains daily log of Jail activities.
• Observes inmate activities and observes any unusual behaviors or needs.
• Searches all areas of Jail for contraband.
• Issues clothing and housecleaning supplies.
• Supervises work detail.
• Interfaces with prisoners to determine their needs or problems.
• Patrols cell block areas and housing units.
• Other duties as assigned.

Part-time positions leading to full-time employment following successful completion of in-house training.

All applicants must be 18 years of age prior to application.

Full-time Corrections Officers will receive an additional $0.50/hour upon successful completion of Department of Corrections (DOC) training.
