Advanced Development Lab Technician, Vitreous Process

Location: Onsite at Kohler, WI
Opportunity
Performs necessary sampling and testing of raw materials, slip, glaze, plaster, finished product and other miscellaneous materials tested to support Advanced Development and Vitreous Support projects and key initiatives; batching of materials such as slip, glaze, and clays; lab record keeping, data entry, and equipment maintenance. Required to perform testing to specific procedures and guidelines.
Specific Responsibilities
Batches new slips, glazes, and other materials needed to support projects.
Performs testing procedures required for each project.Tests include, but are not limited to viscosity, specific gravity, temperature, percent moisture, surface area, particle size, and any other testing required to make projects successful; makes adjustments to materials as needed
Loads and operates kilns with lab samples specific to each project
Creates and maintains computerized lab records including word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, graphics and databases. Proficient key boarding skills are necessary.
Performs special testing and experiments.
Coordinates external and internal corporate lab testing requests.
Maintains a clean and organized work area; maintains and troubleshoots lab equipment.
Practices all established safety rules and anticipates safety precautions necessary in new testing, experiments, and assigned work.
Communicates and cooperates with associates and leadership.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
Lifts up to 50 lbs
Operate non lab type equipment such as freight elevators, hoists, etc.
Skills/Requirements
Must be able to demonstrate technical aptitude commensurate with sampling and testing responsibilities.
Must have mathematical abilities for numerical calculations and algebra.
Must have experience with computers and be proficient on the keyboard.
Must have the ability to adapt to a changing environment of priorities.
Minimum Associates Degree or High school education + 5 years related experience required.

The hourly range for this position is $28.25 - $35.30. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
