Process Control Technician, Glass Production Weekends 3rd Shift

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite at Kohler, WI

Opportunity

3rd Shift Weekends Friday-Sunday 6:30 PM-6:30 AM

Supports the production of glass and milled enamel powders for application to cast iron ware in the USA and China. Under the direction of the Glass Production Supervisor, perform duties necessary for the production of Kohler glass: operate batching, melting, bagging and environmental controls. Prepare samples and conduct tests on Kohler glasses and raw materials to ensure components meet Kohler requirements. In the absence of supervision in the department, oversee the production processes and provide direction for associates working in the department.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Operates process control equipment critical to the manufacturing process in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Prepares samples, operates laboratory equipment, and performs tests to verify product quality.

  • Maintains test records and assures data accuracy.

  • Monitors environmental control systems, adjusts as necessary, reports upsets and assists with containment.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves routine equipment problems.

  • Coordinates with maintenance, instrument technicians, and environmental engineering to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

  • Determines possible solutions to process control issues and presents recommendations to management.

  • Recommends and participates in department improvement activities related to safety, equipment reliability, cost of operations, quality, and sustainability.

  • Reviews and updates standard operating procedures for area of responsibility.

  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of work areas, performs routine cleaning of instrumented equipment.

  • Coordinates work of hourly associates to meet production requirements in absence of supervision.

  • Actively communicates to peers, team members, engineers and management on a routine basis.

  • Practices and follows all safety regulations as required.

Skills/Requirements

  • Candidates should have a high school education and preferably some training from technical school or professional/trade association.

  • Desired candidate should have a minimum of three years of manufacturing experience.

  • Analytical ability and mechanical aptitude will prove to be very beneficial.

  • Experience working alone and in a multi-tasking position will be considered a plus.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The hourly range for this position is $21.10 - $26.40. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
