About the role

Park Hyatt Kyoto is currently seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Director of Sales & Marketing who will be providing leadership to Sales & Marketing Department.

Supporting the General Manager, this role requires an inspirational, confident leadership style to help unfold a guest journey of rare and intimate experiences and a dedication to ensure our care for people is turned into action. As Director of Sales & Marketing, you will lead the Sales & Marketing department in all the day to day operations of running the business. This is a Leadership Committee position that requires a visible and highly engaged leader to positively impact the hotel and clearly position Park Hyatt Kyoto in the international market, as well as establish the Park Hyatt brand in local market.

Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Direct oversight of the Sales and Marketing operation of the hotel. The DOSM has responsibility of the Sales and Marketing Budget/P&L, revenue forecasting, advertising, marketing, developing and writing business plans, and ownership meetings.

  • The DOSM will be responsible for the efficient running of the department in line with Hyatt Hotels Corporation's strategic priorities, whilst meeting colleague, guest and owner expectations.

  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge and able to train and monitor both the group and transient contractual agreement process, quoting rates, sending referrals, setting traces, and the management of retention, reactivation, and acquisition accounts.

  • To position the hotel in the local marketplace through appropriate sales and marketing initiatives and to ensure the hotel product and services align with the positioning and brand promise created through marketing communications.

  • To develop, implement, maximize, monitor and evaluate the hotel’s Sales Strategy (goals, tactics and actions) to achieve and exceed forecasted revenue figures in Rooms, Food and Beverage, and all other revenue-generating departments.

  • To maximize colleague productivity with multi-skilling, multi-tasking and flexible scheduling to meet the financial goals of the business as well as the expectations of the guests.

  • To manage all sales strategy, tactics, and action implementations to create a strong and disciplined sales team who achieve their sales goals.

  • To make sure all sales proposals, collateral, digital tools, and other sales communications are in line with the hotel’s and Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s brand standards, and up to date in terms of information etc.

  • Partner with the Revenue Management team to include, but not limited to, determining sales pricing strategies, developing rates, establishing group thresholds, determining space utilization policy, deploying competitive data strategies, conducting demand analysis and managing market mix

Qualifications:

Qualifications

· Ideally with a university degree in Business Administration or Hospitality/Tourism management.

· Minimum 2 years of progressive work experience in similar roles within luxury international properties.

· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, as well as customer service orientation, excellent problem solving and administrative skills and computer competency.

· Fluency in spoken and written English and Japanese is essential, additional language skills will be an asset.

· Ability to represent the Park Hyatt brand.

· Thorough understanding of Luxury Consortia markets and Luxury Travel agents is a big plus

  • Ability to harness financial and competitive set data to inform decisions

  • Ability to prospect new business and build relationships with current clients.
