This position will last approximately from April to the end of
September. Must be self-motivated and make decisions working alone. All
positions are dependent on the number of mosquitoes and complaints
throughout the district. In the same respects if work is slow all
positions may have less than 40 hours per week. Qualifications: * Valid
driver\'s license with acceptable driving record to operate company
vehicles. * Pass both Oregon pesticide applicator exams within three
attempts. Exams will be paid for as well as your hourly time while
taking the exams. * Pass employer background check. Duties: *
Inspection and treatment, if required, of larval breeding sources of
mosquitoes throughout Union County. Also, any action required to reduce
breeding sources of mosquitoes. * Responsible for cleaning and
maintaining district equipment. * Repeatedly lift and carry 50 pounds
of weight. * Work comfortably around wild and domestic animals. * Have
and maintain good balance while wearing a heavy pack in swamp-like areas
and cross fences while doing so. * Other tasks may include help with
surveillance activities, clean-up, and running errands. Hours: * Normal
operating hours for the district will be Monday through Friday between
8:00 A.M to 4:30 P.M. * Longer hours are possible depending on the
areas requiring treatment. * Hours can be dependent on weather
conditions. * Typically, if one day of the week is cut short it will be
on Friday, unless due to weather conditions. Wage: * Starting out at
\$15.20 per hour and increase to \$17.20 per hour when notice is
confirmed that the employee has passed the two required exams to be
certified pesticide applicators. * Returning employees will receive a
\$1 per hour pay increase each year they return for a maximum of 4 years
(\$21.20/hour).
