Job Description:Working with department manager, the RN - Coordinator I
provides leadership and clinical expertise on their respective shift and
department. They are accountable for coordination of unit resources to ensure
that staffing to census and acuity is appropriate both clinically and
financially. They function as clinical support for staff and are a role model
of competency and professionalism.

Your day.
As a Shift Specialty Coordinatoryou know that every day is different, which
is why you need to know how to:
Evaluate health status through the collection and assessment of health data.
Perform health teaching and health counseling
Provide therapy and treatment that is supportive and restorative to life and
well-being either directly to the patient or indirectly through consultation
with, delegation to, supervision of, or teaching of others.
Execute delegated medical functions.
Refer patients as needed for further evaluation or treatment.
Review and monitor therapy and treatment plans.
Document in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
Serve as role model, mentor, and supervisor of staff (as identified by
manager).
Trouble shoot patient and unit/department problems.
Assure appropriate staff assignments and schedules and seek resources as
needed.
Participate in a leadership role in performance improvement activities, new
initiatives, and other unit functions.
Participate with the manager in interviewing, hiring, and employee evaluation.
Seek to identify and implement methods to improve financial outcomes.
Communicate pertinent issues with manager, house supervisors, and physicians.
