We are seeking an Engineering Test Technician to support our engineering teams in developing gas and electric products. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our products meet regulatory, safety, and performance standards by testing prototypes according to agency standards and engineering test procedures

How You'll Create Possibilities

  • Design and build minor test related equipment.

  • Calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory test equipment.

  • Knowledge of procedures, equipment, and methods to set-up and conduct tests which include:

  • Household cooking appliance standards UL858, ANSI Z21.1, and CSA C22.2 No. 61.

  • Energy consumption - CSA C358

  • Microwave appliances UL923 & CSA C22.2 No. 150

  • Household electric ranges - ANSI AHAM ER-1 & OV-1

  • GEA Engineering Test Procedures -ETP 211, 212, 900, and 910

  • Author technical reports and complete UL data packages for submittal under the DAP CTDP guidelines.

  • Understand and follow guidelines outlined in the Engineering Labs Quality System (ELQS).

  • Write instructions, procedures, and forms as needed for the ELQS.

  • Interact with engineering teams for the resolution of test failures.

  • Promote safety in all aspects of the job.

  • Crosstrain in labs (DST, EMI, RLT, CITL) and support as required.

  • Lead/Support improvement projects for labs (Kaizen, PDCA’s, etc.).

  • Research, scope, and obtain quotes to procure lab equipment as required.

  • Implement improvements to test methods and equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair test equipment.

  • Operate and monitor thermal chambers.

  • Operate and monitor cycling equipment (doors, drawers, racks, valves, and hinges).

  • Create wiring diagrams and schematics as required for various set-ups.

  • Write and modify LabVIEW programs used on test equipment systems.

  • Manipulate data from CSV files in excel (formulas, graphs, macros, etc.).

  • Use various test equipment to obtain precision measurements required in a laboratory setting.

  • Work with and support peers in a manner that maintains a positive team environment.

  • Make progress as outlined in the Skills Upgrade for Engineering Technicians.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Associate Degree preferred or equivalent Lab experience

  • Familiarity with household cooking appliance standards, including UL858, ANSI Z21.1, and CSA C22.2 No. 61.

  • Understanding of energy consumption standards, specifically CSA C358.

  • Read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.

  • The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, push, pull, reach overhead, climb, and bend to the floor. The employee will exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or exert up to ten pounds of force constantly to remove and replace test equipment.

  • Read, write, and understand test procedures & equipment manuals.

  • Troubleshoot and perform basic appliance repairs.

  • Write and update software programs. Troubleshoot and repair lab test equipment.
