What We Do

The Service Centers serve as the “face” of the Taxation Division and our team of dedicated professionals work collaboratively within the Customer Contact Group to promote voluntary compliance with tax laws through education, assistance and customer service. These Centers are located in Lakewood, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Fort Collins, and Grand Junction in order to provide taxpayers with face to face accessibility to help with filing, payments, information, and other resources. Our Lakewood Service Center location is seeking a courteous and friendly team player with experience working in a diverse, customer focused environment to serve as a Temporary Administrative Assistant II to join the team in the office. A typical day for this person would include performing data entry assignments such as tracking reports, completing spreadsheets, and other clerical tasks in an office setting. These daily tasks will be accomplished by maintaining tax accounts, processing documents, such as Power of Attorney, address changes and payments, as well as entering data into our software programs. If you have in-depth experience multitasking in a high-volume office setting then this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Primary Duties:

  • Sort and route incoming and outgoing mail.

  • Scan and attach documents and create work items in GenTax on Taxpayer accounts.

  • Review Power of Attorney forms received by mail, fax, and via the web for accuracy and completeness.

  • Prepare Power of Attorney documents by scanning, attaching, and entering necessary data in GenTax on the Taxpayer’s account.

  • Waiting room attendant and front desk coverage as needed

  • Process PDF’s from Fax Forward and attach in GenTax to the Taxpayer account.

  • Perform office inventory including general supplies, technology, and printer equipment.

  • Assist in the Void/Reissue process.

    This position will be located in our office and you will be required to work in person.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Must meet one of the following or any combination of experience/education to meet the minimum (MQ) qualifications:

Two years of General Clerical work experience.

  • General Clerical work experience is typically performed by office clerks and/or administrative assistants this includes, but is not limited to tasks such as:

  • Experience providing exceptional customer service; interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within the organization and community.

  • Data Entry including: entering information into a program or database (appointments, contact information, customer records)

  • Regular, daily work responsibilities utilizing equipment and software used in offices i.e. Google Apps and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Regular, daily work responsibilities utilizing computer systems, scanners, printers, copiers, fax machines and other technologies

  • Typing professional emails, letters, reports, briefings, forms, memoranda, etc.

  • Reviewing and comparing data for accuracy and completeness. Gathering specified information and compiling routine reports

    In order to be considered for this position, your experience must be documented on your application (part-time experience will be pro-rated).

    Substitutions:

    Conditions of Employment with the Colorado Department of Revenue :

    Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.

    As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations .

    Terms of Employment:

  • Temporary Aides are limited Per Colorado constitution, a temporary employee may work for the State no more than nine (9) months in a 12-month period. The 12-month period is not defined as a calendar or fiscal year, but a rolling 12-month period that begins with the month of the first day of work for the temporary assignment.

  • For continuous or regular (including part-time) work schedules, the temporary assignment starts the actual date the temporary employee begins work and ends after nine months. For example, a temporary employee who begins working June 15th may work continuously through March 14th. Upon completion of the continuous nine (9) month assignment the temporary aide must take four (4) months off prior to returning in the same position.

  • Temporary employees pay state, federal and local (if applicable) taxes, Medicare tax, and contribute to the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). They also receive Workers' Compensation coverage. A temporary employee does not receive health/dental/life insurance benefits and does not receive annual/holiday pay. Temporary employees are scheduled to work on an as-needed basis; there are no set hours or guarantee of hours.
