Summary
Job Description
Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (PA or CRNP) to join our current team of 4 cardiac surgeons and 7 APP’s. Our cardiac surgical practice performs roughly 900 total cases annually. We offer expertise in coronary revascularization, off-pump CABG, aortic and mitral valve replacement, surgery for endocarditis, re-operative procedures and repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms. Our program is a regional leader in the implementation of newer techniques and technologies, including complex repair of both the mitral and aortic valve, TAVR, transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair, transcatheter mitral valve replacement and surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. In addition, we offer a robust service for the surgical treatment of both acute and chronic congestive heart failure, to include implantation of both left and right ventricular assist devices. Our group performs 60 ECMO implantations annually. The post-implantation care of these individuals falls under our guidance.
This is a full time position focused on the medical care of cardiac surgical patients. There are no operative responsibilities. This APP will oversee post-operative patient management within our telemetry/step-down unit. Pre-operative preparation and scheduling of those patients awaiting open heart surgery is also required. This APP will routinely be responsible for initial patient encounters and workup of new consultations to our practice. The role is quite patient and family focused, as the qualified candidate will be intimately involved throughout the entire course of patient care from initial assessment, through preparation for surgery and recovery to hospital discharge.
Hours: Fulltime (1.0 FTE) position with hours generally between 7-3:30pm, but will occasionally extend to 6:00pm. The opportunity to tailor these hours to accommodate individual preference will be considered. The position includes 1 in 4 weekend rounding coverage. Rotating holiday coverage and rare weekday overnight calls is expected. This care model is planned to provide autonomy and work balance within a self-managed group of collegial providers. New graduates will be considered.
