Job Description
The Embedded Software Test Engineer works as part of the software development and test team. The team is responsible for developing and testing software for moving and fixed surveillance camera products. The Engineer analyzes customer requirements, and designs and implements automated tests, designs test sets, implements test environments, and executes manual tests of embedded devices. The Engineer’s objective is to ensure Bosch Security Systems products are efficiently and effectively tested.
_This role is hybrid (at least 3 days per week in office); candidates must live within a commutable distance to Lancaster, PA site. _
Primary Job Duties:
Analyze customer and engineering product software requirements for clarity and testability
Participate in product requirement review cycles like CRS, SRS and provide feedback
Collaborate with the broader product engineering team to improve the product software requirements
Execute, peer review, and maintain manual use/test cases, as appropriate, to ensure optimal requirements verification coverage for both software applications and systems
Design test automation solutions, implement, and propose alternatives
Provide testing support to urgent and high priority customer complaints
Work in an agile way of working with local and international teams
Document software defects with clear problem descriptions, perform defect triage, and generate supporting test artifacts (where available)
Evaluate state of the art test management tools and their use in our way of working
Provide timely feedback to developers, managers, and other embedded/software testers concerning problems identified and to deliver comprehensive reports of tests undertaken and the results of those tests
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
Preferred: 2 years overall Software Development using C/C++/Visual C++/C#, QA/testing experience, manual test execution
Required: 1 year overall Software Development using C/C++/Visual C++/C#, QA/testing experience, manual test execution
Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to work on multiple projects in parallel with minimal supervision
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Ability to work well in a team environment, both locally and internationally
Experience working with embedded devices is preferred
Programming experience, preferably in C++, Power shell, C#, Python is desirable
Experience with test automation frameworks such as NUnit
Experience working with DevOps tools such as JIRA, Bamboo, Jenkins, and Git, is desirable.
Experience or knowledge of Agile/Scrum way of working is desirable
Preferred knowledge of Computer Vision and tools (e.g. OpenCV)
Preferred knowledge of Linux
Preferred knowledge of Android OS
