Ingham County Human Resources Family Services Enforcement Coordinator - FOC in Lansing, Michigan

Description

Under the Supervisor of Investigations, provides secretarial and administrative support to the Family Services Enforcement Unit. Provides general guidance and information to clients, outside agencies, and court personnel. Makes determinations regarding the denial of parenting time.  Creates and distributes departmental correspondence. Schedules Joint Meetings and Parenting Time Show Cause Hearings.  Collects and maintains statistical information.  Serves as back up for other departmental staff.

Essential Functions

1.Provides administrative support to the Family Service Enforcement Unit including but not limited to processing Parenting Time Complaints & parenting time enforcement actions.

2.Reviews, processes and makes parenting time determinations regarding the denial of parenting time.   

3.Provides general guidance and information to clients, lawyers and outside agencies.  Clarifies department and court proceedings. Obtains missing information or documents.  Explains available options to clients.  

4.Meets with clients during walk-in hours in an attempt to answer questions regarding custody and parenting time. Provides guidance and applicable resources to clients.  May communicate with difficult clients.

5.Performs secretarial support such as answering telephone calls, responding to written inquiries, documenting communication, faxing & copying materials, processing outgoing mail, distributing incoming mail and other clerical support.

6.Sets court dates for Parenting Time Show Cause Hearings. Schedules Joint Meetings. Consults with clients to arrange mediation meetings, parenting time referrals and other applicable meetings. 

7.Serves as liaison to the Supervised Parenting Time agencies including answering phone calls, responding to e-mails, reviewing and documenting Supervised Parenting Time Notes. 

8.Collects and compiles statistical data from collaborative resources.  Develops and distributes departmental reports and forms.  

9.Consults with Investigators and Court Services Officers in regards to Parenting Time Bench Warrant. 

10.Serves as back up to departmental staff as necessary.

  1. Trains staff regarding workflow and departmental procedures.  

  2. Attends various training as required by Ingham County/Circuit Court/FOC, as well as the Office of Child Support.   

  3. Adheres to strict OCS/IRS rules of confidentiality.

  4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications

A minimum of an Associate's Degree with one year of experience in an office setting is required.  Preference in Human Services, Legal Studies or related is preferred along with experience in a legal setting is preferred.

OR 

A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of experience in an office setting is required.  Experience in a legal setting is preferred
