McLaren Health Care Manager Facilities Maintenance - McLaren Careers in Lansing, Michigan

Provides overall technical direction and administration to facilities maintenance personnel, ensuring repair and maintenance activities are efficient and effective.

May be local lead in new construction or modification projects. Responsible for meeting the business, financial, customer, service quality and regulatory requirements of the area.

Meets and consults with system leader for policies, procedures, equipment and supplies to promote standardization across the system.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

:

  1. Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of facility maintenance services in accordance with all hospital, system and regulatory agency standards.

  2. Ensures quality, financial and customer service objectives are met.

  3. Ensures the attainment of objectives through the selection, development, training and evaluation of staff. Makes hiring and termination decisions in consultation with human resources.

  4. Develops, secures approval of, and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives.Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.

  5. Serves as technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or customer complaints.

  6. Reviews and approves recommendations for department equipment modifications, new supplies and minor equipment purchases.

  7. Recommends and secures approval of major capital expense items initiating bidding process with vendors and upon approval, awarding bids.

  8. Fosters smoothly running services through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.

  9. Ensures that all facility maintenance activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws.

  10. Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifies, recommends and implements changes, expansions and additions.

  11. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; comply with legal codes and regulations.

  12. Stays current on knowledge of technology and state and federal regulations.

  13. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree OR high school/GED with verified comprehensive experience in healthcare operations facilities and two additional years of related experience may be acceptable in lieu of bachelor's degree.

  • Six years of experience in a facilities operations/maintenance role plus four years of hospital/healthcare/medical facilities and/or support services experience required

  • Two years facilities/healthcare/support services supervisory experience required.

  • Valid state driver's license.

  • Driving record must be within the approved insurance company’s regulations.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.

  • Ten years of experience in hospital maintenance and engineering.

  • Quality improvement experience.
