Job Description

Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget. As a member of the product development division, you will specify, design and implement major changes to existing software architecture. Define project needs. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to ensure consistency, testability and portability across products in general. Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

(Senior Principal Product Manager – 5G Product Strategy)

This is a cross-functional role which spans across Technical Product management, product line management, strategy, and engineering execution management. You will be working and leading a team of smartest people in the industry focused on developing our 5G line of products.

We are expecting a fearless, engaging, and dynamic thought leader, who can take an idea from concept to product in a highly motivated organization with multiple product streams with a great vision.

With your people skills, you will either manage or navigate to work with a growing number of technical product managers/ Solutions consultants/Engineering heads/Program heads and customers spread across multiple continents specializing in specific components of our 5G offering. Therefore adaptability, patience, and tolerance to people culture, method of operation, and time zones will be needed.

This is a leadership role, you will be in complete control of your product from concept to delivery, you will have the say on what gets built and what does not in the product, and you get to set the direction. So, leadership is key here. As a leader you will be holding joint responsibility for all aspects of product development across all activities related to development of our 5G Product development strategy and execution, and partner with business counterpart and other Oracle wide product development teams.

Very specifically, we are hiring for our communications Product Portfolio lead roles specifically focusing on 5G/4G domain . You will drive strategic roadmap items across the portfolio, bring in end-to-end alignment of capabilities of each product in 5G Control plane, data plane and radio. You will be responsible for all outbound discussions with the customer from end-to-end perspective, while being a subject matter expert in specific CNF function. You will be go-to person for all technical direction towards the market and will engage with internal Product teams when it comes to new feature requirements operational requirements, features enhancements delivery and compliance.

Though we are looking for an expert, we are not expecting you to know everything in detail. But we do expect you take this opportunity and extend your current expertise and our organization to the next level. So minimally you need to have,

  1. This is highly technical role, with solid business understand of the product and cellular industry. That said, you will have to show your ability to write deep technical requirements around specific assigned product or domain, expert in network call flows of cellular network (5G,4G, and in Automation/Analytics). You will be tested on this aspects during the interview process.

  2. Ability to drive Technology strategy in assigned areas – 5G, 4G, Cloud, Security, Analytics, and Automation depending upon need of the business and the customer.

  3. Ability to drive thought leadership in the areas of Containerization, public cloud deployments, on premise infrastructure.

  4. Ability to operationalize -> build customer specific Operating models – Onboard, run, and support deployment strategies in various cloud deployments – On prem and Public-clouds

  5. Understanding of operation aspects of a multi-vendor deployment or has prior hands-on knowledge in those deployments from previous generation of networks.

  6. Understanding of the CI/CD delivery model and security aspects of this delivery model.

  7. Contributed or has an understanding/judgement on Standardization in general, and layer in Network security related feature enhancements in products that we build.

  8. Understanding of partner compliance management, for third party products or opensource products that we may consider using in our product development.

  9. Lead, defined, educated, mentor, and enforced compliance into the end-to-end process in product development.

  10. A telecom background and should have worked in major projects which involves delivery management.

  11. 3g/4g/5G architecture knowledge, understanding of call flows and 3GPP standards understanding is highly desirable. And/OR,

  12. Understanding of Cloud technologies –knowledge of telco or non-telco specific workload containerization, Kubernetes architecture, data management, cloud security, performance management, orchestration would be highly desirable.

  13. A grasp around end-to-end service delivery – Customer first – Product experience management covering User experience, and service experience and familiar from buy, order, use, renew service processes.

  14. Have great educational background, minimum an undergraduate technical degree with 20+ years of demonstrable experience. Project management experience, product design or related experience would be necessary.

In addition to the above expertise, you should be able to carry out complex duties and tasks. The ones mentioned below will require you arrive at your own independent judgment on daily basis.

Additional Role requirements

  1. You will write requirements which will be specific in your area of assignment. You will manage the end to end prioritization for delivery of the solution , execution and compliance to those requirements when engineering delivers.

  2. Able to guide/mentor/support/lead a highly competent Technical Product Management team driving our 5G strategy.

  3. Develop and contribute to the long-term strategy and vision for our 5G Core portfolio and associated solutions and products.

  4. Be a process-oriented individual who is highly data driven, assertive and proactive responsible for Identifying, documenting, adopting, and adhering to best practices. Good Knowledge on Incidents/Request and Change Management process. Extremely proactive in stakeholder management, reporting and tracking requests.

  5. Drive standard root cause analysis of field defects in co-ordination with field teams tracking to influence product improvements across the portfolio of 5G products

  6. Plan and direct schedules and monitor budget/spending

  7. Monitor the project from initiation through delivery.

  8. To be able to guide his/her team to author and contribute to customer facing presentation, notifications and participate in driving all customer facing engagement as required from time to time.

  9. Have a good understanding of Product management role and functions and should have delivered at-least 1 major implementation from ground up.

  10. Present demonstrable experience in technology management areas, people management and presentation skills.

  11. Demonstrate a business sense, with a bent for market analysis, business case development, go to market planning, and product launch expertise.

US: Hiring Range: from $114,500 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
