Lansing Board of Water & Light Reliability Engineer IV, Asset Management in Lansing, Michigan

The Lansing Board of Water & Light has an opening for a Reliability Engineer IV with our Asset Management Department, located in Lansing, MI.

Job Type: Full-Time Starting Salary Range: $99,400. - $122,300.

Implements a companywide asset management system focusing on the reliability engineering processes. This involves but is not limited to working with internal and external resources to train new engineers to the Asset Management (AM) and Reliability Engineering (RE) processes, perform analysis related to the Asset Management System (AMS) and related capital project work, create/enhance departmental documents and processes (e.g. Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Asset Management Plans, critical spares, etc.).

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, reviews, and identifies continuous improvement for departmental procedures and processes.
  • Mentors/trains engineers to the AM and RE processes.
  • Prepares and edits complete technical documents (e.g. AMPs, FMEAs).
  • Plans and schedules complex projects within the AMS.
  • Leads project teams through the Reliability Engineering (RE) Processes to add/update asset information within the Asset Management System (AMS).
  • Completes analysis, documentation, and reports related to capital projects/capital processes.
  • Identifies need for and/or facilitates various AMS processes such as Root Cause Analysis/Corrective Action and Management of Change.
  • Communicates and provides direction to peers and assigned personnel (e.g. other engineers, interns, and Co-op students).
  • Acts as technical SME/mentor to other engineers/support groups throughout the organization.
  • Supports regulatory/compliance related requirements related to internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Supports internal and external enquiries associated with the assets. Responds as appropriate by reference to relevant information sources.
  • Collects, analyzes, and acts on appropriate asset data efficiently to improve the functionally of the AMS.
  • Makes sound decisions based upon a mixture of data-driven analysis, expertise, experience, and judgment; collects relevant information, seeking input from others, and identifies connections and/or root causes of problems.
  • Has predictable and reliable attendance.
  • Participation in the continuous improvement of the Asset Management System and Work Management processes.
  • Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
