DEPUTY SHERIFF - Lateral JOB ID 23-057
The Douglas County Sheriffs Office (KS) is accepting applications for
certified Law Enforcement Officers for the position of Deputy Sheriff.
Applicants must currently be a full time \"Police Officer\" or \"Law
Enforcement Officer\" who holds an \"active law enforcement
certificate\" issued by the Kansas Commission on Peace Officer\'s
Standards and Training as defined by Kansas State Statute 74-5602 and
subsections.
Applicants must have at least 1 year of law enforcement experience. The
years of experience are counted after academy graduation and field
training from the applicant\'s prior employment. Must possess a valid
Kansas drivers license or the ability to obtain one and reside within 45
minutes of the Sheriffs Office upon employment. Successful candidates
may be assigned to Operations and/or Corrections Division based on
experience and the needs of the agency. Shift work is mandatory for this
position. Douglas County is dedicated to eliminating racial inequities.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to develop and
maintain working relationships with diverse co-workers, community
members, and customers. Candidates must pass a background check,
written, and drug testing. A polygraph examination will be required.

Salary range is \$26.72 - \$40.08 per hr., depending on qualifications.
Overtime after consecutive 12.5 hour shift is paid at DOUBLE the hourly
rate.
Excellent benefits, including:

4.75 hours of sick leave every pay period (two weeks). These hours
increase after every five years employed with the Sheriffs Office.
Eight hours of personal leave are also awarded to employees in one
calendar year.
There are also nine holidays in a calendar year that employees are
either paid (if not worked) or receive holiday pay (double and half
hourly wage -if worked).
Deputies are provided all of their uniforms (except footwear) and
equipment needed for their job.
Employees also have access to a free on-site gym, track and obstacle
