Position: Senior Training & Development Specialist
Location: Lenexa, KS
Senior Training & Development Specialist
The Sr. Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for all aspects
of the planning and execution of training programs, the design and
implementation of courses, overall management of the LMS (Learning
Management System), and supporting various learning and development
initiatives. This role involves serving as an internal consultant and
partner to leadership and will provide coaching for employee
development. A strong emphasis will also be on ensuring training
effectiveness through evaluation and assessment methods. This role
requires the ability to be organized, collaborative, and capable of
working effectively with all levels.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May be accountable for the oversight of a team with few or no direct
reports.
- Act as a leader, mentor and coach to lower-level staff.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop and implement professional and leadership
development programs through customized training based on
organizational needs using an array of instructor-led, online,
webinar, and blended-learning options to provide the best learning
outcomes.
- Develop methodologies to encourage competency development applying
training, experience and coaching/mentoring for a holistic approach.
- Provide situational coaching to employees to encourage development.
- Manage the Career Development Program by providing training,
assessing participation and reviewing effectiveness through
collaboration with affiliates.
- Conduct needs analysis of affiliate performance to ensure talent
development programs are targeted to improve overall productivity
and effectiveness.
- Responsible for the management of the LMS, ensuring impactful course
content that matches the needs of the organization, fosters employee
and leadership engagement, and maintains accuracy of tracking
outcomes and comprehensive documentation.
- Act as a liaison for internal and external trainers ensuring
coordination of logistics and availability of required resources for
virtual, hybrid, and/or in-person events are adequate for training
purposes.
- Assess vendor-led training programs with consciousness of
situational adaptability, budget and timely execution.
- Responsible for the development, implementation and analysis of
assessments, evaluations and various surveys using Predictive Index,
360 Feedback, EQ and other necessary tools to assess effectiveness
of training and employee development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration, or a
related field.
- 5+ years of human resources experience.
- Experience in training facilitation, course development, career and
professional development programs
- Experience with instructional design and facilitation of e-learning
training
Technical Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of adult learning principles to ensure effective learning
programs.
- Proficient in technology, including MS Office Suite; experience with
SharePoint, Zoom/Teams.
- Experience using a learning management system, e-Learning authoring
tools, instructional design and graphics design tools.
- Experience using interactive and engaging techniques to enhance
knowledge retention
- Experience in training and event planning and execution.
- Situational Leadership knowledge and applied experience preferred.
- Demonstrate agility and flexibility, modifying approach, work focus,
and program design to meet current learning needs.
- Excellent interpersonal communicatio skills, including active
listening skills and strong writing skills.
- Ability to exercise strong decision-making, organization, time
management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and as part
of team, demonstrating professional reliability and the ability to
exercise confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Travel:
- Reliable transportation to travel to local affiliates or training
locations, as needed.
- Possible travel to regional locations to deliver training programs,
less than 10%
