Primary Role:

The Site Capital Lead will lead and drive the capital project management function supporting capital portfolio for the Lessines site involving site building, production areas, facilities, labs, utilities including associated systems investments and site expansion capital projects.

The individual will report to Head of Engineering and will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution and completion of capital projects ensuring consistency with business strategy, commitments and goals. This includes leading annual site CAPEX budget planning process, preparing and communicating CAPEX strategy/business needs to management. Developing, maintaining an organizational structure and strategy to ensure the site is adequately organized/resourced to execute current and future CAPEX programs. The individual will be the site contact for escalation/progression of capital request through the executive management endorsement and approval process. The individual will lead a team of project Manager and schedulers to execute the site CAPEX program, will manage and oversee all aspects of capital projects through project life cycle stages, will and chair monthly CAPEX review/governance meetings to report on overall CAPEX program.


40% Functional Management: responsible for performance management and professional development of direct reports. Allocates resources, assigns priority to task and act as an advisor to senior management in delivery of value added services. Manage Budget and contract resources.

40% Project Management: responsible for development of Capital Management capability and provision of adequate resource (internally and externally) in the successful development, execution and delivery of Capital projects. Accountable for effective delivery of projects in a safe, robust and cost-effective manner.

20% Procedure and standards: responsible for the implementation of standard business practices, procedures and templates that will result in consistent, reproducible, scalable methodology for governance and lifecycle management of projects.

Education and experience requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 10 + years of experience of relative business experience in project and operations management. Prior experience managing capital projects and full working knowledge of project controls in cost, schedule development and financial assessment is required. PMI or comparable certification and familiarity with project management in pharmaceutical industry are preferred.

Strong knowledge of cGMP and applicability in project management for design, execution activities including, but not limited to quality, project control, and commissioning/qualification of FDA and other agency regulated facilities including regulations governing product manufacturing. Full understanding of project controls and financial assessment required for Capital appropriation submission.

Excellent communication (verbal and in writing) in French and English, technical, organizational, leadership, and mentoring skills are required. Must be a team player prepared to lead, work in, and embrace a team based culture.

  • Responsible for all projects assigned to the organizational unit. Acts as an advisor to subordinates supervisors or staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Directly participates in establishing and administering many centralized functional projects. Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

  • Responsible for all activities/projects assigned to the project management function. Manages highly skilled professionals

  • Exerts influence in the development of overall and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in critical delays and modifications to projects or operations; cause substantial expenditures of additional time, human resources, and funds; and jeopardize future business activity.
