Overview:
Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the nursing
assistant performs various duties in the care and treatment of patients
in accordance with established methods and procedures of the Medical
Center.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct care to patients in accordance with their
individualized care plans
- Assists patient with activities of daily living, including bathing,
oral care, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Assist in transportation and transfer of patients, ensuring comfort
and safety during movement
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and other patient
data, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to nursing team
- Accuchecks completed as directed
- Accurate and prompt documentation
- Assist with patient hygiene and comfort measures, including turning
and repositioning patients to prevent pressure ulcers
- Support patients with feeding and hydration needs, adhering to
dietary restrictions and assisting with mealtime activities.
Removing trays in timely manner.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care
and promote positive patient outcomes
- Completes hourly rounds to assigned patients and anticipates patient
needs. Responding promptly to call lights and patient requests
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their
families, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including
changing bed linens, stocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness of
patient rooms, and preparing rooms for admissions and transfers.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies and
procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients
and staff
- Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and
knowledge in patient care and hospital procedures
