Vista Outdoor Distribution Supervisor - CCI/Speer in Lewiston, Idaho

Job Description

CCI/Speer is looking to add a Distribution Supervisor to our Lewiston Team. The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising shipping personnel through decision-making in support of departmental order filling demands, inventory control needs, transportation planning and routing parameters, and work assignment schedules.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred or equivalent experience.

  • 3-5 years combination of administrative leadership and “hands-on” warehouse experience to include order processing, shipping/receiving, inventory control, TL, LTL and parcel transportation, logistics, material handling, and layout/setup.

  • 3-5 years ERP and WMS experience including Microsoft Office.

  • 3-5 years experience in a leadership role (preferably in a distribution/warehouse environment).

  • HazMat certified preferred.

  • Excellent numerical recognition and comprehension.

  • Excellent safety and team orientation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must complete internal leadership course with in 1 year of hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Directly supervises all department associates.

  • Manages all safety issues in the department ensuring that goals are met; anticipates and acts on potential safety problems, completes investigations and reports on a timely basis.

  • Prepares documentation for assembly of pulling orders, dock assignment, and loading trucks - carrier by carrier.

  • Assigns daily workload per individual shipping associate.

  • Maintains rapport with shipping office personnel, production area supervisors and/or managers, internal order administration, customer service and credit personnel, and external transportation vendors and drivers.

  • Promotes safe work environment, teamwork, and inventory integrity.

  • Supervise and review employees to maintain a productive and efficient workforce.

  • Anticipates extended hours for daily overtime and/or weekend work as order flow dictates.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Physical Requirements: Preparing paperwork at a desk for 5 to 6 hours per day. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling weights of 30 to 70 lbs. for 1 to 2 hours each workday. Sitting on fork truck or motorized cart up to 1 hour at a time and climbing on and off these vehicles. Stooping, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and crouching to access product. Near vision, far vision, depth perception and field of vision for safety. Standing, sitting, and moving about for a majority of the time.

Mental Requirements: Recognition and comprehension of numerical applications and directing and/or following prescribed sequences of work activities. Reading comprehension to under orders and instructions and to give orders and instructions. Maintain high attention levels to ensure safety and accuracy of own and others’ orders being filled. Correcting orders of others or delegating to correct. Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to function comfortably as part of the work team.

Equipment Used: Operation of forklifts, motorized carts, and other material handling equipment (MHE) and correction of others in the use of MHE. MAX and E-mail software for inventory control and carrier routing purposes. Wrapping machines. Banding machines and tools.

Working Environment: Shifts vary from days (6 to 4), or swing (5 to 3), weekend days (5 to 5), and weekend swing (5 to 5) and are regularly extended based on customer needs. Organizing overtime and Saturday staffs from a combination of shifts and additional production areas. Work is generally done inside, though items sometimes need to be retrieved outdoors and the warehouse environment is subject to dirt, dust, and noise constantly. Work is on and around moving objects, such as MHE and varies between working alone and with or around others.
