JOB LOCATION: Lexington, MA

POSITION : Development Specialist II

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Shire Human Genetic Therapies Inc. is seeking a Development Specialist II with the following duties: utilize fundamental understanding of immunology, cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry to support the development, qualification, technical transfer, validation, remediation and related documentation of potency methods (e.g. cell-based, enzymatic, protein binding) for product development, product characterization, manufacturing lot release and stability for early, mid, late and commercial stage biologicals; responsible for general lab upkeep, executing all bioassay platforms; take a lead role in implementing new technologies, new methodologies, including new platforms, software applications, and automation capability within the Bioassay Group; contribute to method transfer of qualified assays to Quality Control (QC) and lend support to the QC validation activities as part of commercialization readiness; work with multidisciplinary teams both internally and externally to progress new product development; exercise sound judgement in resolving problems in which initiative and judgement are required; make recommendations to management in decision making processes; perform aseptic cell culturing and handling; work with plate based immunological and molecular biology methods; work with cell based potency methods; work with enzymatic methods.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences or related field plus 2 years related experience OR Master’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences or related field. Will accept any level of experience in the following required skills: perform aseptic cell culturing and handling; work with plate based immunological and molecular biology methods; work with cell based potency methods; work with enzymatic methods.

Full time. $60,000.00 - $75,000.00/year. Competitive compensation and benefits.
