Position Overview:

As the Warehouse Operations Manager at our newly-built manufacturing facility, you will take charge of overseeing all warehouse operations, ensuring seamless material flow from receipt to delivery to the production floor. Your primary focus will be to support various production departments by ensuring timely and complete material deliveries, thereby bolstering project quality, adherence to delivery timelines, and cost objectives. Safety will be paramount under your leadership, with a commitment to fostering a secure work environment for all team members. Your role will also involve optimizing production floor efficiency through effective communication and meticulous management of materials, ensuring they are delivered on time, in a ready-to-use condition, properly organized, and free from damage. This position presents an exciting opportunity to drive operational excellence and contribute significantly to our manufacturing success. What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Handle all aspects of warehouse operations including receiving, put away, cycle counting, picking, kitting consolidation, and delivery of material to the production floor. Complete, timely, and orderly delivery of material to production is of paramount importance.

  • Develop and drive a comprehensive operations logistics strategy with the support of own logistics industrial engineering team.

  • Develop, implement, and carry out packaging standards for all suppliers to minimize damage and improve internal material handling.

  • Increase warehouse efficiency through effective techniques and excellent training.

  • Ensure available space is used as effectively as possible through appropriate storage devices, racking configuration, and put away strategies.

  • Maintain appropriate metrics and demonstrate productivity improvements in all warehouse activities through process improvement and infrastructure enhancements.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy through sound processes and training, and an effective cycle count program, including identification of root cause issues and implementation of required process improvements.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • At least 10 years of demonstrated experience in warehouse management within large capital equipment or engineer-to-order manufacturing environments.

  • Hands-on management of warehouse operations supporting production plants.

  • Proven experience in warehouse and materials management, focusing on supply to production lines.

  • Proficient in receiving, putting away, picking, and delivering materials efficiently.

  • Experience in setting up and optimizing warehouse systems and operations.

  • Familiarity with SAP for warehouse management to enhance operations and inventory control.

  • Significant background in heavy manufacturing, particularly in engineer-to-order, large/complex capital goods environments.

  • Experience in rail or transportation manufacturing sectors (e.g., aircraft, buses) preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems and advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.

  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive strategies for warehouse operations.

  • Lean or Continuous Improvement certification and APICS certification preferred.

The base salary range for this position in Lexington, North Carolina is $128,700 to $174,200 and the annual incentive target is 15% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
