Senior Associate Data Management

What you will do

The Master Data Management team at Amgen plays a pivotal role as a strategic partner to Commercial leadership, offering data-backed insights crucial for driving commercial success. As a Data Platforms Sr. Associate, you will be supporting management of Amgen’s Commercial Data platform (iDNA). iDNA is a part of Amgen's data architecture designed to provide a unified, organized, and cleansed source of data for reporting and analytics. The platform includes various components such as: Data Ingestion, Data Access, Data Services and Analytics & Reporting.

In this role, the Sr. Associate would partner with the US Data Platform team, the DTI team, vendor partners and stakeholders in Commercial to onboard new data sets in support of Analytics and Forecasting. This individual would implement analytics-ready datasets for cross functional use. This individual will also actively participate in the JIRA Agile processes to execute solutions in support of various business stakeholders.

You, as our Data Platform Senior Associate, plays a pivotal role as working closely with cross functional data infrastructure and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate Master Data for all commercial operations, and supporting wider Business Units within the ACCP.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Execute all aspects of day-to-day operations of the Data Platform in co-ordination with US Data Platforms team & the offshore Operations execution team.

  • Partner with stakeholders in CDNA (Commercial Data & Analytics)– including US Analytics, Forecasting & other cross-functional partners to implement enhancements to their datasets, onboard new data sets, support the team in US with prioritization & coordinate with offshore teams on estimations and timelines.

  • Resolve queries from cross functional stakeholders and support incident resolutions and service requests.

  • Manage access provisioning and license management for the data platform.

  • Co-ordinate with DTI to improve cloud infrastructure performance & plan scaling of infrastructure.

  • Monitor costs on AWS and Databricks and lead efforts to optimize platform costs.

  • Support the Data Platform leads in implementing steps to streamline & prioritize intake of requests, establishing a governance model that covers intake, prioritization, communication, access etc.

  • Support Audit requests & data extract requests from cross functional teams.

  • Identify data quality issues with regular processes and implement additional checks to monitor data quality.

  • Ensure that documentation of the platform is up to date and establish processes to review and update documentation including Data Catalog

  • Participate in the JIRA Agile processes to prioritize and implement solutions for CDNA and other cross-functional teams.

  • Adhere to Compliance, Legal and Data Privacy guidelines and best practices.

  • Supporting ACCP continuous improvement activities.

  • Supporting wider business units on an ad hoc basis (Finance/FP&A/Business Enablement).

Proven experience and skills needed:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Pharma/Biotech Data Management or Analytics, Value & Access, Marketing Operations, or a related field

  • OR Master’s degree and 3 years of data management experience, business, engineering, computer science or related field experience

  • OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of data management experience, business, engineering, computer science or related field experience

  • University Degree in business, computer science, mathematics, healthcare or related field.

  • Understanding of IS data applications and experience with data querying and data quality tools.

  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and success in a highly matrixed environment to manage priorities and drive success.

  • Good project management skills, working with project teams in a matrixed and, at times, ambiguous environment.

  • Fluency in English, both in written and oral communication.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with Pharmaceutical/Healthcare data management and business processes (commercial, medical, clinical, etc.)

  • Experience with data, analytics, and technology solutions (AWS/other cloud platforms, SQL, Databricks, Tableau, etc.)

  • Adept at effectively translating business stakeholder requirements to IT partners to ensure high quality, timely, integrated data assets.

  • Execute prioritized data deliverables through agile execution and continuous improvement.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated self-starter, ability to work under limited supervision.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, active listening, and relationship management skills

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a cross-section of internal partners in the organization.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data models to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrates a service-minded attitude.
