We are seeking a Manager, Physical Security Systems for the SNL/CA Security Operations department. The selected candidate will ensure that customer needs are satisfied through the creation of trust-based relationships and promote excellence by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, schedules, and staffing requirements. You will apply organizational knowledge, project management skills, and relevant experience to independently judge work quality, performance, and alignment of results with customer expectations.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Manage and direct the contract for the Protective Force, and manage and direct the Emergency Management, Physical Security, and Technical Systems Security workforce that operates 24/7/365 within the department.
Counsel and assist employees and management on government legislation, U.S. Department of Energy contract compliance, and Sandia National Laboratories' policies or procedures to ensure compliance.
Be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the organization’s protective force operations and equipment, including all activities related to developing and maintaining security programs, directly related to the armed protection and response for the site.
Lead the Emergency Management program to include exercises and briefings to Mission and Mission Support organizations.
Lead and/or co-lead integrated external and internal joint emergency and security exercises.
Maintain a current awareness of world and local threats through engagement with local groups.
Work closely with SNL/NM Physical Security, Technical Systems Security, Emergency Management, Counterintelligence and Local Law Enforcement Agencies to ensure Laboratory assets are provided adequate protection.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Security Management, Criminal Justice, or other relevant field plus eight or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent experience
Active L clearance or equivalent
Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q security clearance
Ability to travel as necessary
Master’s degree in relevant field.
Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience
Solid experience leading and managing teams to produce high quality output or products on schedule, within budget, and in a dynamic, stressful environment; as well as engaging with internal and external partners.
Ability to obtain and maintain DOE SCI access.
Military or law enforcement tactical teams experience (SWAT, SRT, HRT, etc.)
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external partners and customers, including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work with sensitive information and classified matter.
Experience related to physical protection of classified and nuclear material assets.
Experience in application of formal risk assessment and/or system effectiveness methodologies in management of a project or organization.
Experience with workforce planning and team development.
Commitment to excellence in high-formality, highly regulated activities requiring formality of operations subject to audit and inspection.
Experience working within a direct funded program and collaborating with SFO, NNSA, and DOE.
Knowledge of Sandia's safety and security rules and guidelines.
Knowledge of company policies and procedures and ability to recommend modifications and/or improvements to Sandia's Corporate Policy System operating policies.
Familiarity and direct execution of projects/tasks on multidisciplinary teams subject to security requirements outlined in DOE directives.

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
