Utah State University Financial Aid Operations Coordinator in Logan, Utah

The Financial Aid Office at Utah State University is committed to removing financial barriers to higher education through exceptional student experience. Within this context, the Financial Aid Operations Coordinator (Supervisor I) will assist the Associate Director by directing and advancing the efforts, solutions, and innovations of the operations team.

  • Learn and master federal and state financial aid regulations, university, and office policies.

  • Monitor, perform, and train others in all aspects of federal financial aid verification: reviewing and processing applications and federal tax, and other documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Supervise Financial Aid Office student employees.

  • Train new student employees on financial aid principles, customer service, and daily tasks/responsibilities.

  • Coordinate coverage for any customer service schedule gaps (phone calls, service desk, chat, and emails).Create semester work schedules for student employees.

  • Review and submit timecards for payroll each pay period.

  • Run weekly trainings/meetings.Create and organize training materials.

  • Carry out performance evaluations each quarter

  • Assist students (and parents) in person or remotely with requests for information about their financial aid account status and resolving any account problems. Monitor customer traffic and coordinate extra coverage with full-time staff when needed.

  • Assist associate director with all training, development, and on-boarding of current and new student services coordinators and other staff.

  • Assist associate director in monitoring student accounts during the application and packaging process, satisfactory academic progress, and changes in enrollment, degree and certification programs—including all associated reports.

  • Participate in federal aid outreach initiatives, enrollment and recruiting activities.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in a related field with one year of experience supervising others, or an equivalent of combination of education plus experience is required

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Team Management experience

  • Intermediate/advanced spreadsheet experience

  • Project management experience

  • Strong customer and employee relations experience

  • Strong team-building and other soft skills

  • Ability to work within a highly-regulated, policy-based environment

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work without supervision in a busy office setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Financial Aid experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Banner Admin Experience

  • CampusLogic Student Forms Experience

  • Database and file management experience

  • ARGOS reports experience
