As a Senior Optical Developer for Azure Fiber, you will play a crucial role in supporting the strategic expansion and operational excellence of our solid core and hollow core fiber networks. Under the guidance of senior engineers and management, you will contribute to integrating state-of-the-art hollow core fiber technologies and maintaining our critical dark fiber assets. Responsibilities

  • Driving Network Excellence: You will lead quality assurance and code review processes to mitigate risks and elevate network performance. You will hold responsibility for crucial aspects of network implementation such as physical connections, power management, protocols, and qualification of design.

  • Telemetry Mastery: You will harness optical network data for precise failure analysis and proactive monitoring enhancements.

  • Incident Resolution Champion: You will diagnose and resolve network issues swiftly with minimal customer impact, backed by meticulous post-incident analysis as part of on-call responsibilities.

  • Automation Advocate: You will pioneer automated solutions to optimize network operations and incident management workflows.

  • Deployment Dynamo: You will streamline network deployments by contributing to cutting-edge automation for rapid and efficient infrastructure expansion.

  • Strategic Problem Solver: You will identify and address operational gaps with technical finesse and innovative automation strategies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience in network engineering

  • Expertise in fiber network technologies, including both solid core and hollow core fiber deployment and operations

  • Availability to oversee operations on a 24/7 basis, including readiness to respond to emergencies

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
