Summary:

Meta is seeking a Visiting Researcher through a short-term contract to join the Meta Linux Kernel team.About the Meta Kernel team: We work with the Linux community to improve the Kernel for both the company and the billions of Linux systems worldwide. Required Skills:

Visiting Researcher (PhD), Linux Kernel Scheduling Responsibilities:

  1. Perform research and experiments on CPU scheduling on x86 systems

  2. Research and implement new, innovative CPU scheduling algorithms

  3. By gathering data from experiments, inform the design and development of next-generation scheduling algorithms

  4. Publish results and code demonstrating these algorithms

  5. Collaborate with the Meta Kernel Scheduling team to get new approaches upstreamed to Linux

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in a technical field, such as Computer Science

  2. Past experience developing code for the Linux Kernel

  3. Past experience submitting and landing code in the Linux Kernel

  4. Knowledge of eBPF, C, and CPU scheduling techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences.

  2. Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
