GTB serves TDS clients, who are the largest and most sophisticated within the bank and possess a comprehensive and complex set of business needs. Transaction Banking is a technology-powered product set that is deeply ingrained into the financial and operating systems of clients.

GTB partners closely with other TDS groups across Corporate & Investment Banking as well as Global Markets, serving all industry coverage areas.

The Network Management team is accountable for correspondent accounts (Nostros) and relationships on behalf of the Toronto-Dominion Bank Group ("TD"). These accounts and relationships provide critically important foreign currency payment services to the entire TD franchise, including but not limited to wholesale and treasury payments, Continuous Linked Settlements ("CLS"), commercial payments, foreign drafts and cash letters. Working with correspondent banks from across the world and stakeholders across TD, Network Management enables TD to transact foreign currencies and execute its global strategy.

Job Description/Accountabilities

The Vice President, Network Management plays a critical role in managing and optimizing the bank’s global network of correspondent banking relationships. This role is responsible for executing the network strategy, overseeing risk and compliance, managing key financial institution relationships, and driving operational efficiency. The VP will collaborate with senior internal stakeholders and external counterparties to enhance service quality, reduce costs, and support the bank’s broader strategic objectives in payments, treasury settlements, and liquidity management.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key financial institution relationships, manage escalations and drive resolution of complex matters

  • Develop and execute network optimization strategies to enhance service quality and cost efficiency.

  • Conduct due diligence, ongoing monitoring, and periodic risk assessments of network counterparties.

  • Negotiate service agreements, pricing structures, and performance benchmarks with counterparties.

  • Ensure correspondent relationships comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Work closely with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to address AML, KYC, and counterparty risk concerns.

  • Work with internal teams to enhance liquidity management, payment flows, and treasury settlements.

  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Partner with Operations, Treasury, Markets, and other business units to address network-related challenges and service disruptions.

  • Prepare and present insights on network performance, market trends, and strategic recommendations to senior management.

  • Represent the bank in industry forums, regulatory discussions, and network-related engagements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.

  • 10+ years relevant industry experience in wholesale banking, treasury operations or correspondent banking.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in network management.

  • Strong understanding of cross-border payments (including SWIFT and SWIFT alternatives), nostro account structures and treasury/securities settlement.

  • Proven ability to manage external financial institution relationships and lead negotiations.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Strong risk management acumen, including experience with operational risk, counterparty risk, AML/KYC, and regulatory compliance.

  • High proficiency in MS Office (Advanced PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio).

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative business research and analysis skills with high attention to detail.

  • Strong desire to learn and ability to adapt to a fast-paced changing work environment.

  • Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours as needed to support global business and time sensitive initiatives

  • Some travel may be required for meetings, conferences, or on-site engagements with partners and stakeholders
