Job Overview:
Under supervision of Site Manager and Superintendent, employee will perform a variety of rigorous physical tasks outdoors in all types of weather in support of decommissioning and demolition of the Ion Beam Facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico.
Responsibilities:
Support collection of waste samples
Assist with setup, construction, and teardown of site controls for controls of radiological, chemical, and asbestos hazards
Investigate, drain, and dismantle building systems
Operate hand tools and power tools, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials
Handle hazardous, non-hazardous, and radiological waste materials
Other project support duties as assigned
Work may be required in hazardous or radiological environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment
Skills and Qualifications:
MUST LIVE WITHIN DAILY COMMUTE OF LOS ALAMOS, NM.
Able to work outside in all types of weather and in all types of personal protective equipment, including full-face respirators
Minimum 1 year experience with previous decommissioning and/or environmental/radiological project work preferred.
Requires physical strength, stamina, flexibility, and dexterity
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
Preferred applicant will have current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hour training, not required, will train.
