What You Will Do

Come join our team! The Performance Assurance (PA) Group Leader will serve as a member of the Institutional Quality and Performance Assurance (IQPA) management team to plan, coordinate, and manage the institutional performance assurance program and operations and programmatic interface activities with our customers. We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter with advanced knowledge performance assurance who can lead programs providing contractor assurance system (CAS) support to our customers, manage occurrence reporting and processing system (ORPS), process improvement, lessons learned and Human Performance Improvement (HPI). The PA Group Leader will report to the IQPA Division Leader. Your responsibilities include:

  • Implement and oversee successful programs in performance assurance, risk management, process improvement/Lean Six Sigma, lessons learned, metrics and occurrence reporting, in a way that demonstrates strategic vision, tactical implementation skills, and responsiveness to the needs of the institution and our customers.

  • Support the Laboratory mission by providing expert level performance support, executing strategic leadership, facilitating performance improvement, strengthening the performance culture and advancing the Laboratory’s growth as a learning organization.

  • Overall management of the IQPA-PA Group to include the relevant policies, tools, functional area processes, personnel hiring and development, in alignment with the values of people first, mission foremost, and always do the right thing.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Technical Leadership : Advanced-level experience leading technical operations and demonstrating effective decision-making and creative problem solving including skills in researching and recommending alternative solutions to problems and ability to clarify technical program requirements for a tailored application .

Staffing and Budget Experience : Experience as a line manager hiring, supervising, and developing staff and the planning and execution of developing and implementing staffing and budget plans, and then delivering the necessary support to programs with diverse needs.

Collaboration and Coalition Building : Advanced experience with team building and collaboration to develop, implement, and manage innovative requirements-based process improvements.

Communication : Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills that includes reporting on operations and business programs to Federal oversight partners and program owners, higher-level management, customers and stakeholders.

Leadership/Influence : Expert‐level experience managing change and demonstrated ability to influence senior management and stakeholders regarding program implementation and support planning.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 12 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. A master’s degree in business or relevant field is preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

LANL Mission/DOE/NNSA : Demonstrated knowledge with the LANL mission and programs, Laboratory Agenda, to include to include business, operations, programmatic missions, goals, commitments, critical issues and experience with the Department of Energy complex and directives including: SD 226.1C, NNSA Site Governance; DOE O 414.1D Admin Chg. 1, and other related directives.

Lean/Process Improvement : Applied experience using Lean Six Sigma or other tools and methods to eliminate problems, remove waste and inefficiency, and improve working conditions to provide a better response to customers' needs .

Clearance : Active DOE Q Clearance.

Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

  • for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
