The starting pay for this position is $30 /hr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such-as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. General Description: As an Area Supervisor, at a major public transit agency in the Los Angeles, California area, you will be responsible for profitable management, contract and operational compliance, including safety. You'll serve as liaison (primary contact) between customer staff and administration as well as Goodyears management team and Goodyears field service team of approximately forty (40) tire maintenance associates.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Facilitate effective communication throughout the maintenance facilities by working closely with the customer project manager and maintenance staff.

  • Control and protect the assets of the company by maintaining awareness of inventory levels.

  • Managing/directing and supervising of personnel.

  • Meeting customer contract requirements.

  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce all safety standards.

  • Understand & manage tire related service: mounting, dismounting of heavy-duty bus tires by hand, and machine, balancing and flat repairs.

  • Monitor vehicle inspection, inflation maintenance and record keeping.

  • Assist with hiring/training/individual performance reviews.

  • Assist corporate management with addressing customer credit matters.

  • Perform various manual tasks for extended periods of time, including light and heavy lifting, including commercial tires and wheels, standing, bending, and squatting.

  • Excellent safety and attendance performance is expected.

  • Work with and motivate your team towards success.

  • · Monitor tire maintenance through periodic tire inspections, utilizing specialized software and a combination of electronic digital devices.

  • Managing conflict and resolve issues.

  • Participation during mandatory California Highway Patrol inspections.

  • Perform personnel and vehicle accident investigation as needed. Establish corrective actions to prevent accidents.

  • Participate in any special projects as required.

  • Promote a positive working environment.

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years management experience.

  • Prior commercial tire experience.

  • Must be willing to work scheduled shifts including nights and weekends.

  • Must have a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle required for the position and be able to meet DOT driver qualification requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School or GED

  • Relevant commercial tire service and/or management experience.

Candidate Criteria:

  • Mechanical aptitude as well as strong oral and written communication ability.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Commitment to follow all safety procedures and work in a safe manner.

  • Must be able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team.

  • Must be a self-starter and willing to take initiative, able and willing to work without direct supervision, and be willing to attend appropriate training sessions.

  • Be at least 21 years of age.

  • No relocation is being offered for this position.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now or in the future.
