WE ARE CURRENTLY HIRING A CAFE SUPERVISOR FOR OUR ROBERTSON LOCATION
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Barista Supervisor to join our Café at James Perse Robertson House. In this role, you will oversee daily barista operations, ensuring high-quality coffee service, training, and motivating barista staff. You will ensure the team adheres to brand standards of customer service, product quality, and cleanliness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and guide the barista team, ensuring efficient and high-quality coffee preparation and customer service.
Train new baristas on coffee preparation, company standards, and customer service best practices.
Monitor staff performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve skills and productivity.
Ensure baristas maintain cleanliness, organization, and health and safety standards in their work areas.
Handle customer concerns or complaints, ensuring a positive experience for all customers.
Assist with inventory control, including managing coffee and beverage supplies and placing orders as needed.
Ensure the smooth operation of espresso machines and other coffee equipment, troubleshooting as necessary.
Collaborate with management to implement new initiatives and improve service standards.
Maintain a positive, team-oriented environment and motivate staff to perform at their best.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish a constant focus on the brand, service, knowledge and passion for the brand across the store team.
Build and cultivate lasting professional customer relationships and enable all team members to do the same.
Resolve difficult customer issues and escalate to upper management when necessary.
Implement all company training programs effectively in order to develop staff.
Evaluate employees on a daily basis through coaching in the moment and analyzing individual successes and opportunities to ensure sales objectives are met.
Evaluate staff once a year and conduct monthly appraisals with each team member.
Ensure that all HR policies and procedures are carried out, communicated to and adhered to by all staff members.
Effectively communicate needs and ideas to Store Manager in order to elevate the business.
Ensure that the store operates within its predetermined budget (i.e. inventory, expenses, etc.).
Maintain responsibility of coordinating and following up on day to day contractual work.
Adhere to and enforce loss prevention and security policies, credit policies and procedures, i.e. credit cards, discounts, employee purchases, deposit log, tips log.
Adhere to and enforces cleaning and food safety standards.
Ensure that all stock room and back stock inventory meets organization standards.
Responsible for the opening and closing of the store, including securing doors, windows and merchandise, successful alarming of store and POS procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE
3 years of previous barista experience, with a strong understanding of coffee preparation and equipment.
Leadership or supervisory experience in a food service or coffee shop environment preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to handle customer complaints with professionalism.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
The pay for this position is $70,000 - 75,000 annual salary (hourly up to $36 per hour) - this position qualifies for overtime pay
