KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our team. The Construction Inspector will inspect the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements and utilities projects to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, contracts, permits, environmental documents, agreements for work, and may provide construction inspection support. This person will document daily progress of the work, prepare monthly progress payment requests, track various changes, verify time and material work, and measure and document job quantities. Documentation and information retrieval may require computer literacy skills. The Construction Inspector must have the ability to set priorities, make decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision. The Construction Inspector must also deal tactfully and effectively with LAWA stakeholders, contractors, construction workers, and the public as well as always conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Conduct inspections for the installation of sanitary sewer systems and storm drains, including related structures, in accordance with City and County of Los Angeles Standards.
Oversee the installation of underground wet and dry utilities, working within or for various Southern California regional agencies.
Perform inspections for the installation of street lighting and traffic signal systems, following the specifications set by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
Ensure compliance with multi-phased, site-specific traffic control plans, with a strong emphasis on pedestrian safety and routing.
Collaborate professionally within a large team of inspectors.
Apply extensive knowledge of City of Los Angeles Standard Plans/Specifications and the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (Greenbook).
Professional Experience/Other Qualifications:
5 years or more of experience performing inspection of large-scale Public Works type projects.
Proven expertise in the installation and inspection of sewer and storm drain systems, utility infrastructure, and traffic control measures.
Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles Standards.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Requires a detail-oriented professional with extensive field experience and a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
The position will require the candidate to have the ability to transit to, from, and between project sites.
Required Education/Training:
High school diploma (or equivalent)
CAL OSHA-30 (received within the last 4 years)
Anticipated Hourly Range: $60-$65/hour
