The Chief Engineer assumes total responsibility for the "Physical Plant." Closely Monitors, Identifies and Communicates problems in every phase of General Maintenance of the Mechanical Infrastructure, and oversees and delegates the work including areas of Carpentry, Electrical Work, HVAC, Plumbing, Mechanical, Painting, Flooring, Patching, General Hardware, other Minor Building Repairs and Cleanliness, this is not a comprehensive list and only highlights some but not all of the plethora of duties within the community. Makes Recommendations, Performs Repairs, Replacement, Maintenance and Implements Preventive Maintenance as established by Company Procedures and Guidelines. Â

Metropolis, located in the heart of Los Angeles, is actively looking for a strong leader to partner with the Metropolis Master, Met I and Met II General Managerâs in the maintenance and engineering of all the Master Associations and 2 high rise, luxury condominiums. The Chief Building Engineer (CBE) is responsible for Maintaining, Correcting Deficiencies, and/or making Repairs to all "Common Areas" within the Association, as defined in the Associations Governing Documents. The Chief Building Engineer shall Oversee and Coordinate the Safe and Efficient Operation and Maintenance of all necessary Building Systems and Equipment. The Chief Building Engineer shall coordinate and Control a Range of Sophisticated, Stand-Alone Electrical, Mechanical and Analog/Digital Control Systems and Effect Changes and Improvements to Systems as appropriate.

Compensation: $100,000-125,000/yr

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7am - 4pm and on-call as needed.Â

- Proficient in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Strong ethical practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have knowledge of the HIPPO/Eptura Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Strong internal/external customer relation skills required with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, members and other stakeholders.
- Excellent general math skills.
- Strong working knowledge of engineering and maintenance practices.
- Experience working with inside and outside environmental elements (noise, weather,etc.).
- Knowledge of working methods, safety practices and procedures, common terminology, safety precautions and practices necessary for working with hand tools and heavy equipment; and the principals and practices of employee supervision, training and evaluation.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, implement, and monitor progress for successful completion.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrates attention to detail.
- Demonstrates awareness of variables which could affect associate retention and/or morale.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher.

- Must have a valid California driver's license
- Must have own reliable transportation
- Must have State mandated vehicle insurance
- Office equipment; computers, printers, etc. Proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel spreadsheets, and e-mail.

- Knowledge and experience with the various tools, material and equipment required for this maintenance and engineering discipline.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelorâs Degree
- 3-5 years in high rise property engineering
- 3-5 years managing at least 5-10 employees
- 3-5 years customer service experience
- Fire Pump L License required
- EPA-608 Type I or II refrigerant certification
- CPO Certification or required with-in 6 months of employment
- Licensed General B Contractor preferred
