WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Under direction of the Head of Issue Management Group within Enterprise Risk Management, the VP/Director role is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, communication and driving the holistic management of issues, including but not limited to, the maintenance of framework, policies, standards and procedures documents, development of a robust quality assurance program, supporting reporting and managing change and committee charters. The VP/Director will also function as a subject matter expert recommending effective and pragmatic issue management practices to help 1st LOD and 2nd LOD risk owners proactively identify, report and remediate issues.

What you will do
Help manage the centralized Issue Management Group that maintains framework, policies, standards & procedures ensuring clarity, applicability, and alignment with CNB and RBC governance documents, as applicable
Designs and implements, in conjunction with dedicated 2nd LOD teams, a quality assurance program on issue management
Supports periodic reporting to the MRC, RCoB and the OCC
Provide input to support CNB’s interactions with regulators on matters relating to the Issue Management
Develop and implement continuous improvements in process, procedure and reporting to proactively address regulatory expectations and to align with industry practices
Advance the approach and methods used to ensure effective issue management processes in alignment with industry best practice and regulatory expectations
Support aggregated reporting of issues across the CNB and make accessible to all Three Lines of Defense
Develop Board Level, Management Committee and Ad Hoc Issue Management Reporting, proactively identifying key risks and emerging areas of concerns to be addressed executive leadership
Lead and execute targeted consultative and advisory engagements on effective control management practices
Manage a team of professionals to ensure full engagement and high level of performance in meeting business objectives
Collaborate with RBC to drive closer alignment as needed
Participate in the evolution of issue management activities and assume modified responsibilities as the journey unfolds
Must-Have*
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services industry, with at least five years in an risk management, internal audit, or compliance role
Minimum 7 years of experience managing complex projects
Minimum 5 years of management experience
Skills and Knowledge
Strong knowledge of issue management practices with proven experience in issue management design and/or execution
Strong business knowledge of financial services
Strong understanding of Risk Management
Ability to handle complexity and ambiguity
Proven track record building strong relationships across multiple business functions
Ability to manage teams with broad accountability in a complex environment
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional organization
Ability to balance strategic priorities with tactical actions
Ability to deal effectively with conflict
Well-developed influencing skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to work in a matrix environment
Possess superior organizational, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Proven track record building strong relationships across multiple business functions
Must be able to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Strong interpersonal/teamwork skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact professionally with all levels of individuals including executive management and management committees, both internally to CNB and externally.
Possess the ability to work on several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Must be extremely knowledgeable in Bank-wide strategic planning and direction.
Must be able to tactfully and diplomatically resolve conflicts among stakeholders and participants in all assigned projects.
Compensation
Starting base salary: $111,408 - $189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
