The Clean Energy Systems (CES) Division is growing rapidly and moving forward in production scaling of our residential energy solutions. We are looking for a Senior Operations Manager within the Supply Chain org to develop, maintain, and refine our international trade compliance, governmental programs, and inventory oversight strategy to manage the increase in volume and production. This position is crucial to achieving company goals for customer experience and profitability.

This role reports to the Director of Supply Chain Operations and will be located in Los Angeles or San Bernadino County of California.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collectively with the CES supply chain and corporate logistics/warehousing teams on the development, leadership, and execution of:

  • Inventory management oversight of CES metrics, transactions and communications.

  • International Trade compliance ensuring all manufacturer and imports of inventory is fully compliant with all government legislation, ethics and company environmental operations.

  • Oversight and management of governmental incentives, laws and rules surrounding clean energy initiatives.

  • Engage in the development of long-range international logistics processes, costs, carrier relations, cost and pricing negotiations for contracts with freight forwarders or brokerages.

  • Evaluate the performance of CES international import and export trade compliance in all aspects of the supply chain. Protect corporate reputations and employees by facilitating legal and responsible trading. Minimize exposure to fines and penalties included child labor and country of origin issues. Promote customer satisfaction by avoiding import delays and continuous improvement through automation, system, and process improvements.

  • Develop and implement processes for the management of all Governmental incentives and rules including IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) best practices to drive oversight, reporting management of credits and other benefit advantages for the organization related to IRA.

  • Oversee the support inventory accuracy related to RMA and returns in North America, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that transactional processes and information communications run smoothly.

  • Partner closely with vendors and cross functional teams to set and/or implement import logistics processes, procedures, and systems and follow through with implementation.

  • Analyze and work with freight forwarders (3rd Party Service Provider) and cross functional teams to improve import logistics operations processes, yield, workflow, and implement changes.

  • Work closely with the inventory manager and supply chain team to perform analysis of inventory upkeep, metrics and executions. Ensure we are managing our inventory effectively, reporting accurate inventory data, and cycle-time.

  • Manage and lead other special projects as assigned by the executive team.

  • Administer, evaluate and support the management of international import export carriers’ sea, land, air, other moderate to large contracts. Independently negotiate with supplier’s contract terminology, pricing, technical requirements, scope, and terms involving responsibility, liability, indemnification, and intellectual property.

  • Interpret the conditions and terms of contracts including fiscal and legal implications and advise management on all significant procedures and regulations affecting the contract.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and government regulations.

  • Monitor and manage costs to ensure adherence to project-specific budgets and forecasts.

  • Assists with various inventory management activities, including monthly reporting, excess & obsolescence (E&O) risk assessments, engagement with third party brokers to sell excess material, and coordinating internal material transfers.

  • Presents progress updates to senior leadership in monthly report out meetings.

  • Engage in the supplier qualification process related to all trade compliance rules, laws and regulations.

  • Oversight of Governmental incentives including Inflation Reduction Act benefits and submittals.

  • Oversee, engage and negotiate with freight forwarders and brokers to effectively and efficiently execute international logistics business requirements.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Operations Management or equivalent experience and training

  • 15+ years of experience in operations or supply chain functions (ex. International freight compliance, logistics, customer service, inventory management, transportation, import/export, project management).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain from an accredited University

  • SAP (or similar ERP) experience

  • Inventory management experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to drive action in a matrix organization.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong background in the management of all international logistics functions (inbound freight and inter-site freight) to ensure on-time deliveries at the lowest cost.

  • Strong experience leveraging, utilizing, and implementing warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise management systems in support of effective supply chain execution.

  • Strong background leveraging contemporary supply chain, logistics and continuous improvement tools/methodologies to drive customer fulfillment, quality, cost, inventory management, and safety.

  • Strong project management experience and demonstrated ability to lead multiple cross-functional projects concurrently to completion.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make strategic recommendations.

  • Results-based Leadership style skill set with strong impact and influencing skills.

  • Experience with electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and contract manufacturers (CMs).

  • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs.

  • Must be meticulous, initiative-taking, and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment.

  • Experience dealing with suppliers in North America (USA and Mexico).

  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing best practices.

  • Ability to travel (25%+) and communicate outside of work hours.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office solutions, especially Microsoft Excel.

  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Physical demands:

Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
