University of Louisville Associate Director, Unit Human Resources (School of Dentistry) in Louisville, Kentucky

(8 Salaried)Position Description:The University of Louisville School of Dentistry is seeking an experienced professional to direct and manage the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, including supervision of staff who support functions for faculty, staff, and students. The position will develop and maintain a high-performing team that delivers exceptional customer service and support in a complex organization. The School of Dentistry has over 400 team members, including more than 150 faculty, serving a student population of 120 DMD students per class, 30 dental hygiene students per class, approximately 60 postdoctoral residents, and a Master of Science in Oral Biology program.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManages the full cycle recruitment process for all faculty positions, including serving as ex-officio member of all faculty search committees. Includes reviewing all requests for new positions, replacement hires and/or in-range salary adjustments, including approval through UofL’s “Authorization to Hire” process.Maintains oversight of the hiring and onboarding process for all new faculty and staff. Serves as the primary liaison with main campus Human Resources.Manages the delivery of comprehensive HR support to faculty and staff. Leads employee relations for School of Dentistry and serves as unit’s Subject Matter Expert for basic compensation, benefit, and payroll processes for a School with approximately 350-400 total faculty, staff and student employees (in partnership with University Human Resources). Partners with HR team to design and deliver best practice HR strategies and operation with a high touch approach. Serves as a trusted resource for leaders, faculty, and staff, while addressing high priority, sensitive issues as needed. Provides interpretation of all Human Resource policies and procedures. Consults with and advises supervisors on disciplinary and policy issues to ensure the fairness and consistency of all Human Resources actions.In partnership with University Human Resources, analyzes compensation practices, conducts salary reviews, and assists in analysis of market competitiveness and internal equity. Implement annual University-awarded salary increase plan, whether merit-based, across-the-board or a combination of both. As director, the position will develop and maintain high-impact relationships with internal and external clients. Develops and tracks the school’s annual faculty and staff compensation budget, including the use of overtime and temporary staffing agencies.Completes surveys from national dental organizations, University officials, or colleague dental schools, related to faculty rosters, compensation levels of faculty, etc.Works with University Counsel and/or outside Counsel for situations involving such things as employment eligibility of foreign nationals, faculty or staff disciplinary matters, or other civil actions.Responsible for implementing University procedures for annual employee performance appraisals and maintaining library of blank templates and completed forms of job descriptions and performance appraisals.Serves as custodian of ULSD personnel records in all formats.Serves as School-wide Administrator of Interfolio, UofL’s system for processing faculty personnel actions, e.g. promotion, tenure.Provides for employee training, whether initial or periodic, ongoing.Preferred Qualifications Supervisory experienceFamiliarity with immigration categories and options for employment of foreign nationals is preferred.Familiarity with Workday HR Software.Requires knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of personal and sensitive data.Competencies CommunicationCritical EvaluationEthical PracticeTarget Compensation Maximum:$98,100.00Target Compensation Minimum:$65,400.00Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.Equal Employment OpportunityThe University of Louisville is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and is committed to providing employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, ethnicity, creed, religion, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and expression, marital status, pregnancy, or veteran status.
