Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Propulsion Engineer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

This position includes the opportunity to lead development, research, analysis and integration of propulsion systems on advanced aircrafts ranging from small unmanned aerial systems to large commercial transports. The successful candidate will support new and ongoing programs concerned with the design of highly integrated air vehicle propulsion systems.

-Leads the design, analysis, test and integration of propulsion systems and propulsion system components, including but not limited to engines (turbine and/or internal combustion engines), propellers, fans, nacelles, auxiliary power units, fuel systems, cooling systems, oil systems, and other propulsion-related systems.

-Leads development of concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements, including hybrid-electric power and propulsion systems for manned and unmanned aerial vehicles.

-Leads definition of requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel systems.

-Manages functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle, including avionics, electrical power generation/distribution, mechanical, and airframe.

-Performs analysis, modeling, and simulation to support propulsion system performance verification.

-Leads execution of propulsion-related testing, including generating test plans and procedures, test execution and analysis of test results.

-Communicates information about power and propulsion system design, requirements, and performance between the design team, management, customer, subcontractors, and vendors

Minimum Requirements

-Must be eligible to work in Switzerland: should be an EU/EFTA national with a valid passport to enable work permit application. Candidates should expect to relocate to Switzerland if not already based here.

-Minimum of Bachelor degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or related STEM discipline).

-7+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of technical education and experience).

-Demonstrated expertise in aerospace propulsion systems.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English Language.

-This position requires travel of up to 10% of their work time to Europe or US depending on the needs of the business.

-This position requires co-ordination with global teams and time flexibility may occasionally in be required to work non-business hours order to support various team activities. experiments (testing, experiments, demonstration, or other activities) as well as travel to customer sites.

Preferred Requirements

-Demonstrable leadership experience on working with a cross-functional teams. Leadership experience good to have.

-Experience with engine-airframe integration, fuel systems, and power generation systems.

-Experience leading aerospace propulsion system development, from conceptual design through production.

-Experience with business capture and early concept development for propulsion systems.

-Systems engineering experience with powerplant design and system safety assessments, failure hazard analysis, and certification and test plans.

-System architectures design and performance analysis.

-System component requirements definition, design, and development.

-Experience with electric and hybrid-electric propulsion systems.

-Experience with propulsion system test planning, setup, and execution.

-Experience using CAD systems (CATIA preferred)
