JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Learning More from Adolescents Online
group seeks a Researcher to develop and carry out established and new
research protocols in our lab. Our group seeks to identify ways to
promote well-being for adolescents and young adults when using
technology and digital media. We are specifically interested in
decreasing negative social media activities and amplifying positive
social media activities for marginalized adolescents, including sexual
and gender minority (SGM) youth. Youth voice and direct observation of
social media activities are at the core of our team\'s qualitative and
quantitative research methods. The current position would involve
contribution to study recruitment, data collection, and results
dissemination in a longitudinal study of adolescents. Our research is a
team effort! We have an approach where all team members have a part in
creating an environment of trust, respect, and ethical, well-formed
research practice. Team members should help foster psychological safety
where team members feel able to share ideas and concerns, encourage
discussion and engagement. Dr. Selkie is a pediatrician and Adolescent
Medicine specialist, and team members have backgrounds in social work,
educational psychology, and public health. This position will involve
direct contact with adolescents and their parents as well as
office-based work. Responsibilities: Provides technical expertise to
fundamental and/or applied scientific research under the direction of
senior research personnel or faculty. 40% Collects and analyzes basic
research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents
results according to established policies and procedures 5% Conducts
literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates
information to appropriate entities and assists with publications 20%
Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research
protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research
area 10% Assists with the development of research methodologies and
