The Information Technology Department at the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) manages the technology and computer infrastructure that drives the Agency's business systems and automation requirements. The IT department manages infrastructure and software that supports the WHS Headquarters building, the State Archives Preservation Facility (SAPF), and twelve Historic Sites around the State. This position reports to the Deputy Chief Information Officer and works closely with IT team members, the Library Archives Museum Collections Division and its Digital Services program area, as well as a number of other departments and organizations both within and outside of the Society to provide expertise and support for a variety of complex technical solutions.
The IT Business Analyst II is a highly technical role which analyzes, provides guidance, and helps to support specialized digital workflows, systems, software, and hardware or peripherals used across Divisions but supported by IT. This position maintains clear documents, guides, and inventories of the various workflows and processes, software, hardware, and systems while regularly providing education to program area staff related to best practices and the use of supported applications or equipment.
The IT Business Analyst II also provides regular consultation and guidance related to increasing efficiencies through scripting or automation of recurring tasks, digital workflows, testing/acceptance procedures, and other IT or business processes.

responsibilities:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their digital service needs, challenges, and goals.
Translate business requirements into clear, concise, and actionable technical specifications for IT teams.
Act as a liaison between business and IT, ensuring clear communication and fostering collaboration ensuring business requirements are met while IT processes, standards, and policies are strictly adhered to
Create documentation of existing equipment and software to assist in formulation of crosswalk to future services and support models
Provide consultation on optimal use of resources and offer guidance related to the automation of certain digital workflows used to process digital images and audio
Act as a primary support resource for a catalog of IT services and applications used by the Society; including efforts to implement, support, and mature a Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) and related integrations to establish a single source of truth for digital assets and metadata, participating regularly in project and implementation meetings.
Work collaboratively across IT and program areas to research and investigate complex technical issues, roadblocks, and objectives to provide sustainable solutions
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of relevant professional experience
strong understanding of IT industry best practices and security standards
strong analytical and creative IT problem-solving abilities
Ability to effectively communicate and translate complex technical topics with a non-IT audience
Experience with cloud-based and on-premises storage technologies
Experience supporting, analyzing, and documenting complex digital workflows, IT processes, and computer hardware or software systems
Experience with technical planning, project communication, and change management processes
Exceptional at multi-tasking and prioritizing in a high-pressure environment
Excellent customer service, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS) and implementation of metadata standardization
Experience with digital archiving, imaging, or audio capture technologies
Experience with scripting languages and automation tools
Experience creating and maintaining hardware or software inventories, user and system guides, and maintenance schedules
Experience with virtualization technologies and concepts
