The International Regulatory Compliance team in Spain performs a critical role in ensuring that the European Legal Entities comply with all applicable laws and regulations. This team will give the candidate the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, whilst developing world-class leadership skills.

What yo will do?

As a member of the Spanish Compliance Regulatory team, the candidate will manage a variety of compliance related matters, supporting and overseeing implementation of Enterprise and business policies and procedures to achieve compliance with legal obligations and Company policy on all business activities.

The position will be specially focused in supporting Foreign Currency Solutions/Euro Card compliance related matters in the business operations this line of business performs out of American Express Europe, S.A. across all Europe. In close coordination with business stakeholders and other functions will participate in the refresh of their Legal Assessments (all areas of law) to understand applicable regulatory legal requirements for the business and work in collaboration with other Compliance teams, to manage Bank of Spain expectations.

In addition, the position will have responsibility to work closely with the Legal Entities governance structure and will be a key player on the European Legal Entities Compliance program, attending Foreign Currency Solutions/Euro Card committees. This new role will have one colleague under their reporting line.

Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree (preferable in Law).

  • Knowledge of Payment Services regulations in Spain and Europe.

  • At least 5-6 years of Compliance regulatory experience related to Banks, Cards, or Payments industry.

  • Proven track record in designing and implementing regulatory compliance programs including analysis of regulation, risk assessments, design and draft of policies & procedures, training, reports, and supervising programs.

  • Analytical skills and strong business understanding. Ability to respond on a timely manner any queries from the business and work in collaboration with other Compliance teams

  • Good command of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Excellent and solid communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with business, stakeholders, and partners.

  • Ability to adapt and handle several tasks at the same time and to work as a team.

  • Initiative and ability to assume responsibilities.

  • The position candidate must feel comfortable answering multiple business requests and prioritizing the order in which answers will be provided.

  • Strong English proficiency (C2) is a must, both verbal and written.
