System One Senior Associate Attorney in Malibu, California

Our client, a Public Interest Law firm, is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join their “Best Places to Work” firm. This is mostly a remote position, but expect to be in the office a few times a month for periodic meetings and events .

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and ambitious Senior Associate with a passion for mission-driven work, to join our dynamic legal team, specializing in handling complex consumer class actions related to data privacy and misuse. A successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload involving complex legal issues surrounding data privacy cases including data breaches, data misuse, as well as other complex consumer class actions. An ideal candidate must possess excellent writing skills, and ability to independently take depositions and argue motions. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the leaders in this field, making a meaningful impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating new cases; preparing and reviewing case proposals

  • Conducting legal research

  • Developing and recommending case strategy

  • Drafting motions and briefs in file-ready form and overseeing their filing process

  • Preparing, finalizing, and serving associated documents related to litigation, such as stipulations, discovery letters, joint statements, and proposed orders

  • Corresponding with co-counsel, opposing counsel, court personnel, and clients as necessary

  • Drafting, propounding, reviewing, and responding to discovery; managing discovery disputes

  • Preparing for and taking/defending depositions

  • Attending mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings

  • Taking argument at mediation, arbitration, and court hearings

  • Attending and/or leading team and firm meetings

  • Adhering to all deadlines (internal and court mandated)

  • Administrative duties as they relate to the practice of law

    Education and/or Experience

  • At Least 5 years Litigation Experience

  • CA Bar Admission Required; Nice to have NY or IL. CA bar exam if licensed in other states.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
