Vanguard Marketing Capability Pod Product Owner in Malvern, Pennsylvania

FAS Marketing is the marketing organization focused exclusively on Vanguard’s intermediary clients. The FAS business has more than $3 trillion AUM and has historically been the fastest growing business over the last decade.

Marketing has had significant success in accelerating Vanguard’s distribution maturity from a product-led model to sales-led. We are on a solid trajectory building out marketing capabilities across differentiated content, target advertising, social media channels.

FAS Marketing's vision is to become the most client-driven distribution organization in the industry. The position is primarily focused on defining marketing distribution strategies and programs that promote Vanguard products, offers and thought leadership to our advisor and home office audiences. Utilizing the full marketing mix (i.e., Web, social, advertising, events, email, collateral, ABM, database marketing, retargeting, content syndication, etc), the product owner in this role will develop and lead acquisition, retention and/or cross-sell programs to drive results that help achieve our business objectives. Knowledge of distribution/marketing technology stack and the ability to integrate people, process and technology into more effective operational impact are critical for success in this role.

Core attributes:

  • 8+ years of experience at a financial services or related industry

  • Bachelor's degree or above in communications, marketing, or related fields

  • Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills

  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form.

  • Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity. Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives.

  • Experience building relationships with cross-functional teams and delivering impact through communication.

  • PO experience in enterprise tech- or data- product/platform

  • Strategic story-telling: can narrate complex technical matters into various audience-tailored narratives

  • Critical thinking: An ability to define success and work backwards in a programmatic fashion

  • Builds vision with others

  • Inspires talent above, across and below

  • Leads with integrity and compassion

Preferred skills:

  • Measurement planning – KPI tracking including but not limited to impressions, clicks, web visitors, video views, collateral downloads, leads/signals, opportunities, sales conversions & revenue

  • Audience segmentation to optimize campaigns and increase effectiveness

  • Creative and engaging social media strategies

  • Multimedia content experiences (and/or outsource this effectively) across multiple platforms

  • Marketing automation/email platforms– preferably with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo or Eloqua

  • Building trigger-based, journey e-campaigns

  • Using marketing automation tools to create, test, and optimize campaign production across emails, landing pages, logic-building, and reporting

  • Managing key conversion points in the marketing funnel, including landing pages, website calls to-action, and lead-generating forms

Role Responsibilities:

  • Defines distribution plan for marketing a product, offer or thought leadership to a specific audience. Will use appropriate elements of the marketing mix.

  • Develops acquisition, retention and cross sell campaigns in support of business priorities. Ideally, campaigns will be multi-channel, multi-touch integrated campaigns that utilize core content from the content org.

  • Delivers marketing plan/s, that incorporate a deep understanding of products, offers, audiences, competitors and our business priorities.

  • Evolves marketing strategies by analyzing data to understand which channels are most effective in achieving pod goals.

  • Manages senior stakeholders and senior internal partners to prioritize backlog, set expectations, and assure annual goals and targets are achieved.

  • Embraces MarTech capabilities to help execute job responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

  • Monitors audience activities and engagement and provides insights to other pods, marketing leadership, and business partners about audience behaviors including content consumption and journeys.

  • Leads the backlog and prioritization processes, facilitating collaborative decision making.

  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of products, audiences, and businesses.

Delivery of pod or team objectives and key results; leadership of a pod or cross functional team that rallies around a collective vision and operates collaboratively; successful navigation of roadblocks and changes that may impact outcomes; and demonstrated improvement in pod health over time.
