Valnet Inc. is looking for a European Football News Editor to cover Premier League content for the website GIVEMESPORT.COM .

GIVEMESPORT is one of the world’s largest independent sports media publishers. It covers news, features, and interviews across a broad range of sports, from football (https://www.givemesport.com/football/) and MMA (https://www.givemesport.com/tag/ufc/) to the NFL (https://www.givemesport.com/tag/nfl/) and NBA (https://www.givemesport.com/tag/nba/) , catering its content to a global audience of more than 30 million fans each and every month.

Expectations

  • Contributing to the creation pipeline for Premier League news content by writing (between 4-8 500-word articles per day) and editing (up to 16 articles per day). *Editing duties will be offset against writing duties

  • Predicting when breaking news stories are likely to emerge and preparing content in advance

  • Identifying and prioritizing best news stories to cover

  • Providing feedback to writers 

  • Ensuring deadlines are met by you and the team

  • Collaborating with the Leads to ensure stable operation and achievement of targets

  • Optimizing content to maximize sessions on Google Search, Facebook, etc., including the creation of high-quality social media posts

  •  Availability to regularly work evenings and weekends

     

    Applicants must possess the following requirements

  • Must reside in the UK (working UK hours)

  • Must be available to work 19 days each month and at least 1 weekend day per week

  • In-depth knowledge of all Premier League clubs and current transfer news

  • Excellent writing, editing, and feedback communication skills

  • 3+ years experience creating and editing news content and 1+ years experience commissioning or briefing news content to other writers

  • Experience covering breaking news at speed

  • Strong knowledge of Google Search ideation and optimisation

  • Experience creating NewsNow headlines and generating traffic on NN

  • Experience creating Discover headlines and generating traffic on Discover
